Will post continuing progress on my gt limitless build that I started this past year. I was able to hit a pb of 162mph before winter and would like to continue to push it this spring.

My other goal is to get my vendetta build past the 150 mark, that car is here:

Much appreciated. I see now what photo you were looking at. That second motor is a 5660 that’s in my drift basher.
however I did start this build with a tp4070cm that now lives in my open wheel 6s car, I’ve managed 140 with that on 6s and 150 on 8s.

I’m in Maryland. Very lucky to have the road we do, but it’s not without it’s problems. Curved from side to side with a crown in the middle so you have to set steering trim to steer into the curve slightly.
One side is covered in dust usually and there’s a nasty dump right in the area we let off.
It is the same road another runner did his 190 pass

Much appreciated. It’s all the same motor, 5680.

Yea we run together often, it’s good motivation.
I’ve done a couple runs that were 6900 feet and I feel like I used about the entire road, one run was also when my a diff input gear sheared and my braking wasn’t very good so I almost went to the end of the road. Still got the car back to me tho

Got my new titanium shafts that should keep me stocked for the season on this build

Here’s the carnage from past season

Made two passes today with my limitless but my range extender isn’t working, the receiver isn’t working properly or my esc is having issues. so they were not very long runs. I have to look at my logs and see whether it was the esc resetting or range issues.
I’ve been dealing with this issue since before winter with all my cars on the same remote so I am hoping it’s just the remote

Yesterdays runs yielded some good results.
With 155 mph as my fastest pass on the gearing I had in the car 46/34
Last year when I did 162 I was running 46/31
I’m confident with the less aggressive gearing I can beat my pb.
I believe what’s holding me back is currently my wiring setup on the batteries or the batteries themselves. Log showed 26v as the lowest drop at full throttle, with this same gearing if I had 28v at full throttle I would be in the low 160’s and 30v would have been close to 170

As much as I don’t want to change my qs8’s to bullets it would allow for an overall shorter wiring setup by about 12 inches total wire and 2 less connecting points.

I think the switch to bullets is a sound idea, 12" isn't nothing. The specific resistance of copper is pretty low (only bested by silver but oxidation is difficult to overcome particularly on something like an RC car) so the wire isn't going to be as big of an issue as the quality of your solder joints, especially as you have quite a lot of them in a series-parallel setup. With solder, less is often more. I cut the connectors out of some QS8 plug and couplings and made some parallel connectors with 8AWG wire and they work a right treat (please excuse the disgusting keyboard, it needs a cleaning....BAD). Just a thought.

Not quite ready to get the limitless back out yet but I did get bullets soldered to the new 5870 motor to go in this car. Been working on changing all my batteries and esc connectors to 8mm bullets. Should be completed tomorrow

Redid one of my Ram Jam spools with a smaller gear.
And installed some slightly custom shafts Ryan made for me with longer than normal pins.
Motor installed and mesh set.
All bullets soldered for the esc.
Ready for a couple test hits to see a baseline number, check logs and hopefully go for some bigger numbers.

Daaamnn that's a hog,15000w?xlx2 looks small behind it??bet that biotch will make the xlx2 sweat...lol
Based on logs I’ve seen this motor run more efficient then my 5680 with better results.
I’m hoping for similar outcome

Almost done complete bearing overhaul with Avid ceramics. Rear hubs and input gear left to change.

Noticed that the front end was still rubbing the ground during runs.
The front springs are the higher strength and I realized that the stock lower arms between the shock and outer ball end were flexing during runs. So I installed the aluminum lower arms to hopefully fix that.

Going quite a bit more aggressive on the gearing with this motor. Basically setting the gearing for the speed I want to get to and I’ll have to get the throttle pull good and battery supply setup to reach that demand.
Hoping for a new pb soon
Update from last weeks runs as well tying my pb from last year.
I haven’t really run this car once I started to focus on my two vendettas but it feels good to get work in on this one

Started working on swapping the chassis over tonight. Along with new diff housings, scorched input cups and just an all around cleanup, overall should save a little weight from the previous chassis+skirts and battery holders I had before.

Another few hours and it should be ready to drive again
