Sounds awesome lockup, glad to hear you found the sweet spot....I ordered the Arrma Blx200 esc for the cen motor..It already has the capacitor, xt90, and at $102 - $15 + 12ecash at tower it was pretty cheap. Looked at max8 and mmx, more accessories needed and At my skill level, the 4 or 5 adjustments will be plenty for me presently. We'll see in a few weeks.

Honestly the arrma ESC is perfectly fine. And no soldering or anything else needed if your using xt90 on your batteries. Order a hobbywing program card for 9 bucks and it will program the arrma esc through the fan port. Very easy compared to the push button programming. Punch control and brake strength are the 2 main features that will make the truck fit your driving style.
Thanks man I'm happy that the castle motor made such a difference. I honestly thought it would not make much difference. Boy was I wrong. So happy I didn't sell that motor and put it in the nero. A CEN sized motor will Definately run more efficient though, giving longer run times which honestly I may wind up doing in the future. I'm getting about 20-25 min off 2 3s 5000mah 70c revolectrix batteries (great batteries by the way, knock the socks off max cramps batteries for 1/3 the price lol) and they will send them with whatever connector you choose. Anyway I am very happy with the truck, just need to figure a solution for the drive pins :\
Glad your cen motor fit, is it running ok with the other esc in the nero?

It runs fine. Just with the work and costs upfitting the existing one I prefer to have a low cost upgrade with slightly better specs. I do have the program card and only recently found it works through the fan port. I will sell the other for $40 bucks or so. Post some video of your truck!!

Hows the runtime with the cen motor? I'm assuming your running 6s with it right? Its gotta run much more efficient with that larger motor and lower kv. 1450kv right?

I have only run for 5 minutes in my driveway and up and down the street to test. New esc should arrive today. I will install and take it to a place where I can give it a workout and report.

Sounds good man, really curious to hear how you like it. I may go that route eventually. Just got my TBR front and rear A arm skids and front tbr light bar bumper. They make the truck so much more indestructible. Especially the rear skids and front bumper. Worth every penny

Rear skids

Installed blx200 with the cen motor in nero. 20 min runtime...lots of torque but low top end. Running 16t pinion it ran 25mph on grass. Before with nero motot and 17t it was jitting low to mid 40s. Have ordered 21t and will order 19. Not a noticeable difference between blx185 and blx200, in my opinion.

Are you running 4s? Blx185 comes with the typhon and talion. Blx200 comes with the nero, where did you get a blx185 esc? I'm just curious. The only real difference between the 2 is the capacitor pack on the blx200. And I think blx200 is 6 amp bec instead of 3 amps. I would run 6s in that motor with the 16 or 17t pinion. Lower kv large motors require the extra voltage and amperage not to run hot and are more efficient and faster when ran on higher voltage. High gearing and low kv on that motor I would be careful not to over heat it. Torque is good though?

Yes I ran 6s. I say blx185, but it is a hobbywing wp B8 150 made for a hobao hyper ss truggy I have. Its the same as blx 185
You are probably right on heat, the motor felt hot with 16t...didn't bring my temp gun. I have a 17 i might use. I can use 21 in different vehicles as my speed gear.

Thanks

Yes torque is good

Wowbthatsvreally slow for 6s. I would think high 30s to mid 40s with that motor and gearing. Very odd. Hobbywing wp150 bl should give pretty much same current as max8 blx200. Was it only running in the 40s on 6s with the stock motor and esc?

Yes....but it has 2lbs worth of stainless steel arm guards and skid plates on it, looks cool not practical. OkPerhaps the garmin epix I strapped to it malfunctioned. Put the bxl200 and nero motor I took out of nero on hobao and got 55mph. Half the weight. While running nero I was excited that I was cathing air on slight incline. However after all I would stick with stock or go big likevyou did with castle.

Just got done installing a leopard 4082 1600kv motor. Running it on 6s with 17 pinion. Stock motor had much better top speed but this thing is a torque monster. Im gonna try a 19t pinion. Broke two traxxas pins within 5min. Truck has over ten runs on it before thst and never broke a pin.

No place has 19t pinion in stock. Also the new motor only has 4mm connectors so im using them till I get 6.5mm ones.

Came across a once used Tekin RX8 ESC and 1900kv motor gen2 locally. Will be Tuesday when connectors arrive. Also received 18 19 & 20t pinion pack. I think this will finaly bring my desired results.

Will be selling once used cen colossus 1450kv motor and new take off Hobby Wing wp 8bl 150

I got the 19t pinion on my leopard 4082 1600kv and it's a monster on 6s. Also running a motor fan.

85mm is longest you can go in a 40 mm can i would say 80-82 in a 42mm can ....but i stretched my fame and running 4070cm

Question, I have a BIG ROCK and I am just wondering, seems like you guys have a lot of experience with upgrading and changing the motor and what will fit and not fit. I was wondering if the CASTLE CREATIONS XL2 1/5 BRUSHLESS would fit?
Length: 4.4" (113.2mm)
Diameter: 2.2" (57mm) with fins
Shaft Diameter: 0.31" (8mm)
Shaft Length: 1.18" (30mm)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
