I will be installing a leopard 1050kv motor with a max 5 into a kraton 8s exb soon .will the new max 5 v2 be a better option than the max 5 v1? I will be running 8s I know that the version 1 max 5 is only 8s capable and 200amp and the max 5 v2 is 250amps 12s capable
 
Absolutely run the max 5 v2 it is 250amps and 12s capable. You are going to need good batteries. lol
 
I wouldn't run 12s on the kraton 8s but even if you run 8s, the max 5 g2 has 50 more amps than the max 5 g1. To put that into perspective, the max 5 v1 is only 40 more amps than the max 6.
 
K8s needs 9s, because it is so very heavy.:D
 
I only plan on running 8s I figured that the max 5 g2 will help keep the temps cooler being that it has 250 amps and i will only be running 8s I want my k8 exb to rip and also have a little more power. what is your thoughts on a cap pack on the g2 even though I will be only running 8s? no 12s @Moirae
 
Gearing=heat! I run the 1100kv with 28/39 and it will rip the tires off and top out in the high 50's in the dirt. Point is you can only get so much power to the ground.
You have a good setup are you looking to do speed runs?

you don't need a cap pack and those extra 50 amps will still be used even with 8s. It depends on your motor and how hard you're pushing it. Either way it's extra headroom and or power when you need it.

👍that’s exactly what I’m looking for extra power to use when I want to use it for the batteries I will probably go with the smc 4s 11300 150c batteries

I have those. Prob the best packs I have other than the Azures..💪🏼
 
Love them! I run them in my Outcast EXB Max5 800kv 39/39...fan on motor and aftermarket fan on esc.

Only reason I don't run them in my Kraton is because the Azures are longer. Same set up though.

no speed runs I just want to have a little speed and power available when I want to use it
