Here’s two different spools I’ve made in case anyone wants to do the same for the 3s chassis cars.
1st spool setup:
2 slipper hubs ground flat
2 non shouldered bearings
One long red Insert
FOH mod 1 gear
3 nuts/screws
Clamped the two hubs to one side of the gear and used vice grips to hold it in place to drill the 3 holes.
Making sure it is perfectly centered is crucial or else the gear will wobble. Loctite the screws
Also it may be necessary to grind the ridges on the side of the gear down for the hubs to sit flush against the gear
Complete spool
Two slipper hubs
Grind flat
Temporarily slide them both on one side so the holes in the gear are visible
2nd spool setup :
2 slipper hubs
One long red insert
Mod 1 saga gear
2 non shouldered bearings
Will require some clearance to the motor/trans case
Each of the hubs have to get ground down to different lengths I’ll update with the exact mm lengths
The red long insert needs to have the threads lightly sanded away
