Welp, finally got me a big Mojo....guess the little Mojo Grom needed a big brother 😃
Since I would doing some upgrades anyways, figured best thing for me was to pick up a new slider from from one of the parts breakers. My ideas at this point are leaning towards a Max6 w 4990 1650kv combo (Never ran Hobbywing electrics before, just Castle or Furitek), M2C shock towers and chassis braces, JConcept Landmines tires and wheels or Proline Mirage TT. Undecided on servos, I've ran many different brands, can't say I really have a favorite.
Body wise, something different than stock. I think the Bitty "Falcon" is super good looking, but too thin to hold up to much abuse?? The Proling 97 F150 is cool, but ultimately, the Proline 67 F100 for the UDR is freeking sweet! Has anyone had success trying to mount a UDR body on the Mojo? Same wheelbase basically, but would need the open space between the bed side panels closed in. I love the old school Gulf Oil liveries, so thinking that will be the paint scheme (see this pic of one of my crawlers I did in Gulf colors).
Might be a can o worms, but what are y'alls thoughts? Favorite upgrades?

Looking forward to your build. I love my Mojave 6s and kinda want to put a different body on it. Curious as to where you were able to buy a complete slider?
Been waiting on some more fun tickets ($$$) to come in, so I have done more research and checking things out than anything so far. As for bodies, I would still love to make the UDR body work, but it would prove to be quite a challenge. I am by no means afraid of a challenge, and know several guys in the design and manufacturing arena that make good use of 3D printers, so I don't think mounts would be too much of an issue...we'll see a this project unfolds.

Where I got the slider? I scoured EBay til I found a deal I was happy with from one of the parts breakers. Got it for $260 (no shocks or bumpers), brand new, all the manuals, extra tools, and goodies that come with the new complete kit. I did have to buy bumpers, got them from Jenny's RC for $40. I had a new set of Talion front shocks which I believe are only 2 mm shorter than the Mojo fronts, and they seemed to fit just fine. I found a set of Mojo new take off rear shocks from another EBay parts breaker for $22. I did get the 3D printed body mount spacers from Garage Life RC, they fit perfectly, great quality, and were shipped out super fast.

Like I said it has been a lot of research so far, I have gone back and forth with M2C parts, Scorched RC parts, Vitavon, Treal, blah blah blah. Annnnd, after all that, I just placed an order today off AliExpress for a load of ADU Racing goodies. I decided that I probably should not sell my spleen on the black market to finance the Scorched or M2C bits, so taking a chance on ADU. I found very little negative about them, and sheesh, the price if hard to look past. I ordered the chassis braces/motor mount combo, shock towers, servo mount, ti shock stand offs, hinge pin mounts, and diff cover. Should all be here in 2 weeks ish šŸ¤žI have a lot of pricey high end parts on other rigs, so guess we'll see how ADU stacks up.
For tires, I was going to order up the J Concepts, but it appears that they are no longer available when I tried to place the order. I read a bunch of reviews of the Prolines and Methods. The Methods seemed to be very good, but a bit wider than I wanted, and I just didnt like the looks much of the Prolines....so I ordered up a set of stockers in gunmetal grey.

I took the Senton 6s out the other day for a good rip, haven't driven it in quite a while. Holy smokes what a fun rig! Obviously it got me way excited to get this big Mojo going!

The mother load! Got some goodies in the mail today 😃 Now just need to find some time to install. Chassis will be about there now, just need to get me a motor/esc, servo, and body.
Figured I would give the ADU bits a go, just from looking at them in the packages, they look top notch.

A little progress. Yup, I am impressed with the fit and finish of the ADU Racing bits. Everything fits perfectly, and I am diggin the bead blasted look.
One word of " FYI" though, if you order the set of suspension hinge pin blocks, it only comes with the 4 lower ones, and the front upper rear is not included. I did not notice this until I had the front assembly apart and looking for that 5th package. No biggie, as this rig will not be done for a bit anyways, so waiting another 2 weeks for it to come in wont ruin my day.
I did sell some other hobby stuff, so I got more fun ticket$. I quickly spent the newly acquired fun ticket$ on a motor/ESC. Got the HW Max6 G2 and 4990 1650kv, supposed to arrive this Tuesday 😃
Whilst everything was apart, all three diffs were checked and refilled with 30K rear, 500K center, and 50K front. Shocks also got some new juice, 80 front, 70 rear.

Very nice build! šŸ”„

I had a new set of Talion front shocks which I believe are only 2 mm shorter than the Mojo fronts, and they seemed to fit just fine.
Try to find a set of take-off MOJO fronts. 2mm might not seem like much, but it can be the difference between the tires rubbing or not. If you keep them, crank up the preload a bit.

The ADU stuff has been awesome, and I think it will be the ā€œgo toā€ for a lot of people, me included, who previously only ordered Vitavon stuff.

The stockers don’t suck, and you won’t go wrong with them. If you eventually want an upgrade, go for the Mirage set. They fit the MOJO perfectly. I love them. The others are, well….just don’t do it.

Enjoy!!! A similar rig. The SCT driving experience is different than the whole ā€œgonna go bash the sh’t out of my rigā€ scene, but it seems like you might to be tuned into the different driving experience. It’s fun! And rewarding when you master it.

Me too. I’m not that much of a fan of the ā€œblingyā€ stuff. I can appreciate good aluminum on its own merits.
Got the HW Max6 G2 and 4990 1650kv, supposed to arrive this Tuesday
Great choice. That’s perfect for the MOJO. That’s what I have in mine, and it doesn’t disappoint! You got the sensored one, too. Awesome. Mine is the OG non-sensored setup and it’s still great.
Whilst everything was apart, all three diffs were checked and refilled with 30K rear, 500K center, and 50K front. Shocks also got some new juice, 80 front, 70 rear.

Put the shock oil back to stock weights. Trust me. Your choices are much too high with the stock springs and will screw up the very awesome, plush nature of the stock setup. If you must change the diff fluid, go with the lighter choice in the front, and the heavier in the rear. The opposite of what you did. This will help the handling and turn-in a lot. Do this, and the 500k in the center will be good.
Just my opinions, of course. But my opinions are based on the best way I’ve found to set up my MOJO.
Awesome build, dude. You’re going to have a lot of fun with your 6s Mojave! As far as SCT’s go, it’s about the best out there, IMO.

Thanks @Dan B. for the input! I love to hear/read how others are setting up their rigs. I tried to find a good average with shock and diff weights, and go with that for a starting point. One of the best parts about this hobby for me is the tinkering and dialing in what works best, some find it to be an exercise in frustration, but I like it ;) Suspension and handling tuning can be a real art, especially with 4wd, 3 diffs, and shocks.... not to mention adjusting -dare I say- camber and toe. Don't take too long to realize if a change is necessary. I used to race 4wd and 2wd buggies way back in the old days, as well as stadium trucks, and loved the tuning back then too..... Think anodized gold aluminum chassis to date myself! lol
I hear ya on the front shock length, I have gone back and forth about the 2mm. New take off Mojo's are about 25 bucks, so not a biggy, and may just do that before this build is complete...its only money right?

I have two Mojaves. They are both equipped with the Max6 G1 and 4985 1650kv systems and i love those cars.
The upgrades i did:
Like you i immediately got alloy braces. The cheap 6061 GPM's, but they are holding up great. That eliminates most of the chassis flex. Those powerful motors put a lot of stress on the drive train, so, again, i got alloy stuff for the front and upper motor mounts, the diff cases and the gear boxes. The stock composite parts flex too much. For diff cases, get the Arrma alloy ones. They have proven to be the best choice.
The cheap Ali offers for the rest are fine, they are holding up. The shock towers are so well protected, i am still on the stock black towers.
So in my experience, you have already mounted better parts than most of us Mojave drivers will ever need.
About the shock oil: you can get away with heavier oil when you use stiffer springs.
You already gained substantial weight with all the ADU goodies. You should get the next stiffer spring set Arrma offers.
I also got the ADU hinge pin mounts, for the replaceable bushings and the ADU t2t brace, because it's a one piece part, the EXB steering rack, for the stronger Ackerman bar and SS spring, and the EXB upper hinge pin bar. And some cheap alloy brackets for the steering plate and t2t mounts.
I still managed to bend the chassis a little, but it is still driveable.
The ADU chassis may be my final upgrade.
Edit: The bumper springs! They are crap. They keep breaking. They are worth upgrading, since Arrma still hasn't.

Absolute beauty and beast!

I’d recommend an alloy cup for that center diff next service, things will get warm excessively warm in there with additional power and less airflow šŸ‘šŸ¼

Thanks for all the input guys! Great to hear what is working for you all, I can certainly learn from ya!

It is days like today when the mailman can be your best friend:

The past couple of years, seems all my big rigs have been sitting idle whilst I have been into the mini crawlers. And then the Groms happened 🤣
It has been a blast tinkering on this big Mojo the past couple of weeks. Unpacking the motor made my socks go up and down! It seems huge!
1000003816.webp

That motor IS huge. And powerful. It does well in heavy Mojaves.
I run 23t/46t gearing. It gets them well over 60 mph on 6s. I killed a battery running on 4s though. I would advise 21t/46t as tallest gearing.

OK, yall got me to investigating a bit more on the Mojo suspension. With the front shocks, although only 2mm eye to eye difference, the Talion's bodies are quite a bit shorter, so gonna get the Mojo fronts on order. No reason to short stroke this beast. Thought I could save 25 bucks by just using what was in my spare parts...lol, what was I thinking? It not like I am saving money anywhere else 🤭
I also ordered up the stiff spring set, thanks all for the suggestion.
As for pinions, I had a brand new Arrma 20T in my stash, also a 21T Tekno. Hopefully good there.

A little update:
Propper front Mojo shocks installed. Heavy shock springs front and rear installed. 21T pinion and motor installed. Scorched RC fenders trimmed and installed. Upper front ADU A arm hinge pin bracket installed. Savox 2292 servo installed.
I did order up the ADU fan mount and 40mm Rocket fan, but I missed my measurement between the motor and chassis by 1 mm, so there is not enough space for the bracket underneath the motor. I can mill the bracket down a bit to fit no prob, and may just do that šŸ¤”
I have a carbon fiber ESC mount for the Mojo w/ Max 6 ordered, hopefully should be here tomorrow, and I'll solder on an XT90 and power the beast up.
Still back and forth with the bodies, really only 3 direct fit options that I can see: Stock, Bitty Designs Falcon X, and ProLine 97 F150. I emailed Bitty to ask if the Scorched fenders fit with their body, they replied right away, but he said that they have not tried it yet so he didn't know. I may just go with stock after all, that way I can have a matching body with the baby Mojo Grom.

Carbon ESC mounting plate arrived yesterday, and I quickly went to work. I purchased the mount from EBay seller "King Hobby", delivered to my door for just over 19 bucks. Quality of carbon plate and hardware was impressive, no complaint whatsoever. Only negative was that there are no instructions, but pics on the EBay listing made it pretty simple...and I have never had a nut or screw outsmart me yet! 🤣
Went ahead and soldered up two XT90's off the ESC instead of just one lead. Install of the mounting plate was perfect, every hole lined up as it should. Now I just need to power the girl up. Wont drive it though till I decide on a body and get that painted up and set in place. Just need to hurry up and make a decision so I can get this beast out and play!
