Just came in the mail. $717 shipped from AliExpress. Hobbwing 8s 160a ESC. 4985 1250kv motor. 8 shocks. 2 spare tires on the back. Lots of aluminum goodies right out of the box. I took it on a short street run. Gonna take it out in the dirt tomorrow! :-)

I think I saw it reviewed the other week on YT..
Wasn't sure if it was available immediately...
Especially the replacement parts..

It looks Hefty!
next to the Mojave 6S..

Hey @Tex Koder. I bought it as soon as I saw it on AliExpress. I did use an EC5 into an XT90. I have 4s batteries with XT90s but couldn't find them in my garage. Was super excited to run it so it got EC5s just this once. Haha.

Also, yeah, it's hefty. Much heavier than the Mojave.

Impulsive, aye..?

dear lord...
I NEVER even thought to try to hookup a EC5 into an XT...!
Didn't even cross my mind. 🤦‍♂️

I've been sitting here for a year debating on either cutting off the XTs off an ESC
or DIYing an adapter to accept my EC5 lipos!!

Now that makes me feel dumb..

Thank You
for showing me the light!!! 💡⚡⚡👍

Nice looking rig! (y)

Don’t jam EC5’s into XT90’s…

Truck looks cool! 👍👍

They are actually a looser fit that plugging into the proper connector.

Just tested the fit..
It does make a loud electrical popping sound.

@razorrc - yeah. It's a bad idea. Fully aware. I will be removing/ replacing the RTR XT90s. Here is the system I use for my 4s-8s rigs:

Amass AS150 7mm bullets on the ESC. Then, I make an adapters for every type of connector (see picture, below):

I got this idea from Radio Control Power. They offer a system like this, except the options are for an XT90, QS8, or 8mm bullets. I liked the idea of bullets, but I really wanted the anti-spark feature that comes with the XT90, so I went with the AS150 Amass 7mm bullets and have anti-spark built-in.

It was actually really easy to do. I paid my LSH $5 each to replace all of my ESCs connectors with the 7mm bullets. Then, I paid them $5 each to solder 7mm bullets to pre-soldered pigtails that I bought from Radio Control Power.

Pretty simple. Replace ESC connectors with the 7mm bullet. Then, create 1-2 "adapters" for each type of battery connector you have. Now I can take out 8-10 trucks at a time and never worry if I brought the right batteries with the right connectors, and I don't have to carry around a bunch of funky adapters.

Pretty cool, eh?

Looks like it rips, hopefully 1/7 SCT racing improves in popularity this year!

I love my 1/7 scales. You should check out the 1/7 RocHobby Ridge Racer, a rebranded Yikong Trailbreaker TB7 that's sold by FMS. I've had the Yikong version for over a year and I love it. Now that it's available from a mainstream distributor that ships from a U.S. warehouse, parts will be easier to get.

They also make a truck (same chassis, different body) they call the "Desert Fighter DF7." I just ordered one from AliExpress.

If you order from AliExpress, you can get either of these trucks as a roller and then use your own electronics, albeit, they come with OEM Hobbywing electronics. I like rollers because I mostly use Castle products.

looks impressive loads of power and handles good. does it feel as good quality as the arrma stuff

Honestly I hate adapters. More resistance, more plugs to fail or come loose, more excess wiring… and there’s nothing worse than driving an hour somewhere and realizing you forgot an adapter! So I put EC5 on everything except small scale stuff (XT60).

If you’re using a lot of Horizon products, it’s the way to go IMO. Gotta be able to solder, but it’s well worth learning that skill anyway.

As far as Yikong goes, I haven't had any issues with any of the rigs I own from them. They are very high quality.

As far as FSR goes, I own their 1/7 Model GT (clearly a Mustang GT). This rig has been bullet proof and is very high quality. I'm surprised it hasn't broken considering how many times it has been smashed into curbs at 40+ mph. So far, one of the mirrors broke off the body and the light bucket tape came unglued, and that's it.

I haven't fully bashed the 1/7 Model TT from this post, but the quality feels top notch.

I thought about the issue of resistance, but I'm not sure how much extra resistance a 7mm Amass 150 plug adds. Maybe we can get RCExplained to do a video. Do you have his contact info?

Hopefully they sell a roller, colleagues have bought a couple 8S blues from eBay so we’ll see how the dated HW electronics in it do this spring. Going to need to be geared on 6S with how heavy they configured to stay nimble enough to run with a well setup 12-15lb dressed Mojave.

Agreed. She is a pig, for sure. I might upgrade the electronics and use the older system in a lighter rig. I wouldn't run this on anything less than a big block (HW 4985 or Castle 1717). That's just asking for overheating issues—at least here in San Diego.

Side note: I built a Mojave "Superlite" where I cut the stock weight down by 15% and upgraded to Tekno shocks. It literally handles like a race-worthy Tekno and is super nimble. Prob my favorite truck in my fleet.
