Motor to esc connection

I’m new to all this and have a question. I see some motor wiring that appears to be plugged directly to the esc with bullet plugs. The stock cars come with wires coming from both the motor and esc and connect with male/female bullet plugs. Is there any reason to do this or why people do this? I’ve attached the picture to show what I’m talking about.

Most aftermarket ESCs and motors come as pictured below. Using the Max 8 as an example. the male 6.5mm male connectors on the motor do plug directly into the 6.5mm female connectors of the ESC. Not always, but it's not uncommon
