Hi guys...

Thought I'd make A build thread on my typhon gt, and share what I've done and where it's taken..

So always been a massive typhon fan... The versatility is unrivaled in my eyes.. I already had a typhon 6s based rally car...and after running that on Tarmac with grps I got hooked massively on how fast I could Make it...

I realised that I couldn't give up my rally car to start a speed run build so started ammasing parts to build a dedicated speed runner... Adrian @badtouch breakers as always provided 90% of the stock parts needed... Then the chassis... I had planned to make some side extensions for the stock chassis to mount 2 batteries but then got wind of Lee from Crcu making a carbon fibre swb gt chassis...

I had to have one!

So once that and some Other carbon goodies turned up I Could. Make a start on the build.

Straight away I encounted a couple of issues... The typhon speed towers I'd ordered wouldn't work with the infraction shocks.... And I didn't have any limitless towers 🤔

Also the top deck that came was for a limitless not a typhon.. So out came the dremel (and dust mask) and that was modified to fit with an m2c sliding motor mount under it... Result...

Back to the towers.. As it was always going to a gt car... The body choice wasn't hard... The jaguar... I had grand delusions of painting it like the xj9r silk cut race car.. But I realised I'm no "sharkfat" 🤣 so opted for a More simpler paint scheme..

So I needed towers to fit with the infraction shocks... I also knew I needed to mount the body somehow at the front.. And as the gt chassis has no kick up and uses a wedge instead. I didn't Think id be able To use the infraction/limitless front end and bumper because of the shape of the chassis...

So I decided to fabricate my own towers incorporating body Mounts on the front.

So the towers fitted a treat and allowed the body to Be mounted really low down, I was very pleased with how they came out. Moving forward I'd decided to use the xlx2 esc coupled with a hobbywing 1650kv 4985 motor, once I had the car laid out I mounted 2 6s arrma battery trays a reciever box and GPS holder... Once I fitted the 2 x 4s 5500mah turnigy rapids I realised the suspension Was going to need work to stop it bottoming out and squating the rears..

So where did you get the carbon fiber center brace? I looked on crcu website and couldn’t find it. I’m looking for something exactly like that for a project I’m building. If you have a link it would be awesome 😎 ty

How fast are you thinking it will go when complete?

Lee from crcu sent it to me when I ordered the chassis and other bits, might be worth messaging him if you can't find it on his website buddy 😊

Well the build is finished now... I've just not finished uploading to the thread lol.. First run out it ran a 99mph then a 117mph, second time out I'd ran a 121mph and a 122mph... Then at the rossa event in August I Managed a 127mph and then a 130mph...

Im still learning... Still tweaking the car setup... I do beleive there's more to come from the current set up... The goal I guess is 150mph...

Update....

So I decided to address the suspension travel issue by redesigning the towers and adding more material to allow the shock mounting position to be relocated lower down... Took some trial and error, but the result was a car that cant bottom out and cant squat the rear end lower that the front.. So Mk2 towers were a result and I moved on with the build..

Few finishing touches... Some support for the body up front and down the sides.

Then it was the time... To take it out and stretch its legs...

First time out... Scorching hot day.. A 450/500m long strip of Non public road...

I ran 27/34, 8s 1650kv on 2 x 4s turnigy rapids 5500mah 140c...

1st pass... A nervous one... Have it abit of a squeeze.... Tracked straight and true... 99mph 👌 I was shocked... Expected 70 maybe... At this point... My brain went "do 100.easy that"

So Second pass... Gave it Some... As much as I dare... Again stuck to the tarmac.... 117mph...

Get in👌

Went home A very happy chap 😊

Looks great, and off to a good start speedwise. I like those shock towers.. Two things I see, one the slot cut into the carbon brace for the spur gear.. I would maybe widen that to allow for different width spurs, and second, why not cut slots in the chassis and use straps to hold the batteries instead of the battery holders, to save a little weight? Nice sexy build either way, any plans for a hotter motor? I can see this with a TP or 1717 hitting 160 mph

Did you leave the rear tires not cut out on the body on purpose? Just curious why if you did? I’m going to be cutting my new delta plastik jag body soon, and looking for the ways to do it.
Especially the rear end, there’s not a lot of info on how to start out on the different types of cut outs

Awesome build. I love the shock towers and chassis. I am trying my hardest to NOT be doing speed passes, but the more builds I see and hitting 150+ in an RC just sounds sooo good to me!!
Wait, wait…. Keep bashing—-bashing— BLASTING!! LMAO

You guys are killing me!
