Figured I would start a build log to exactly document how much freaking money this hobby is costing me ?‍♂️. Seriously, this is my first new rig out of the box.

1st Pics from today 11/1. USPS just dropped it off about 1h ago and I haven’t even taken it out yet! Still have to work a big lol.

Cool new addition. Please report back on how long it takes you to replace all of the bearings. You can also report back on how long it takes you to consume all of those Jolly Ranchers!

Its a very fun lil beast!!! Stock up on some Front Splitters (in the beginning) and some tires! Great choice! ?

Good one! Looking forward to seeing your progress and how you fit the lighting. ??
Are you sure those shock towers will fit the Infraction?

edit: I think you meant chassis braces?

Here’s the link where I bought the Flysky Noble for $161 shipped with a 10% discount!

Good deal ? I've been having trouble finding the small receivers in the US at a price I think is fair. I'll pay $30 but $40+ is too much and the reasons I bought it include the low cost of receivers. I may order some slow boat ones since I guess I'm not in a huge hurry.
@crimsonfancy

I bought this front and back, hopefully they are the right parts. Will these work lol?

Yes. Looks like you're good to go for the rear tower. I looked up earlier by part numbers and didn't see US towers from Hot Racing.
I also just found a US small receiver at Ebay for $29.89 and grabbed the last one. I like the antennaless version. I'd rather pay $25 lol but $30 aint bad.

More to come...

Will install the bearings this weekend after I take her out for a spin. So surprising how big this truck is in person.

?all!
Good choice to build up from day one. Likely to have savings in the long run. Not sold on the idea that you need new towers for a street machine though, but it will definitely add a bling factor. Congrats all the same.

Couple of updates since receiving and taking her out for a couple runs. Literallt two runs for 10 mins...

I decided to go ‘all in’ (at least for me) and wait for everything to show up, install it, and see how it goes...

- Jim’s Bearings upgrade kit
- 30k/500k/50k fluid change
- Flysky NB4 with FRSG4 receiver
- Castle XLX w/Custom mount (eBay) over center differential
- Hot Racing servo arm, front and rear shock towers
- SMC 9400mAh 3S batteries

Where do I start with the transformation?

-Bearing upgrade was a long process. I never did an upgrade on a V4 (4s and 3s only) and I have to say the 6s rigs are a bit more involved. More screws and such lol. All went well, only thing I did do wrong was I inverted the front and rear diffs so the wheels were spinning opposing each other... ?‍♂️.

- Shim, shim, shim... I ended up added a shim underneath the planetary gear and two shins to each set of satellite gears. One Mugen Kit was enough to shim all three differentials. The outdrives on all diffs had already one shim from the factory installed. I didn’t feel it was necessary to add more to alleviate left and right play when the front and rear diffs were installed.

-All the set screws on the 4 hubs and the input drives most of had 10 ounces of red locktite. I’m convinced that arrma and locktite have a connection!!! I had to heat up every hub and every set screw to get them off without stripping the grub/set screws. Take your time and use a heat gun!

-Installed HR pillow balls in the rear locations, but need to order the correct ones for the front.

- The castle mount was purchased from eBay from a local NorCal seller. Pretty cool guy that was more than happy to answer questions and also made the 4mm to 8mm adapters for the motor. The mount removed the top portion of the center differential and the plate comes with longer screws and plastics filler/spacers to keep it sturdy. It actually holds the esc pretty well in place. No complaints and the body mounts up the same way without modifications.

- Soldering was one thing that I learned a great deal with this build! Never really Knew how to solder correctly and with some practice and soldering the 8awe wired to the XT90s was something I’m actually pretty proud off. I honestly feel like the biggest thing I learned is totin properly and have a good soldering iron that actually gets HOT! Man, after soldering the castle power connections, I just want re-solder every connection now since I got a new/good seller solder gun!

-Flysky NB4... man, what can I say. For the price from Banggood $161 with two receivers, what’s not to like or LOVE! It feels like a solid controller and the ease of plugging it in (pre-minded), was just too easy. Still learning all the functions, but it’s been a great purchase so far for the $! Btw, received my order from Banggood in 5 days!

What’s inbound.

- Castle Link B+ —> buying a new XLX comes with a free coupon for the castle link USB. But having to hookup to a PC was not my preference every time I wanted to change settings. Seen good reviews on the Bluetooth module. Should have it Friday.
- Hot Racing front and rear chassis braces
- Front LED light bar, front and rear lights.
- Yeah Racing tornado fans

Still need to order/install.

- onboard GPS, any recommendations?
- vinyl overlay the esc mount. Don’t like any bare metal in the chassis without protection.
- Install 25kg Helsky servo.
- Ripple Killer 8S Cap Pack - figured to go with 8s pack, so when I do replace my motor the cap pack is already installed. Can’t wait to solder it, lol!

Random pics through the last week...

weekend installs...

- Skyrc Gyro - $25
- Castle B Link - $50
- Yeah Racing Twin Fans and heatsink - $26
- Hexfly 25kg Servo - $13
- installed infraction 27t speed pinion
- upgraded motor bearings with Jim’s Bearings (long story here lol)
- Vinyl painted the ESC mount red

miscellaneous
- purchased a Hakko FX888D - love this thing!
- upgraded my HTRC to a Venom Dual Pro

I’ll post impressions of the gyro and B link after I have some time with it installed. The gyro wasn’t that easy to get running right for whatever reason. Still need to mess with it more, 1st impressions is that it is works but dialing in the amount of gain, making sure you’re straight as can be (aligned), and the limit dial setting on the gyro itself are all variables.

I installed the B link in the receiver tray without issue. The only problem I had was that I couldn’t get the iOS app to recognize the ESC, called Castle and they said to reset the B link with the bind plug... all fixed. So many damn settings, so I’ll need a lot of time with this lol.

Here are some random pics from purchases this week and the build itself. Nothing fancy, just pics...

Last thing, scored some SupaHD 8mm front and rear driveshafts...

enuf said! Happy Sunday! Cheers!

*I hate all the wires... need to tidy it up somehow... ?

Update.

Some additional items showed up.

- Ripple Killer 8S Pack. Not sure if I will ever go 8S, but just in case ?. Will install with my current setup. Thanks to @phildogg for the quick turnaround time!

- Skyrc Gyro. Can’t wait to actually know how fast my rigs actually go. Probably a lot slower then I think ?.

edit: I meant Skyrc GPS! Thanks @jondilly1974

- LED front and rear lights & and upper LED light bar from Banggood. Took about 2.5wks from China.
