So I’m about to purchase a esc for my typhon and thought it was a no brainer until I read a thread on here saying the new mmx 8s runs cooler, new technology, yadda yadda. So my question is what esc is better for drag racing? XLX or MMX 8s. For those who don’t know setup . Will be running 165 ft on 6s 2900kv tp motor.

Also I saw on one of LibertyMKiii posts a app to get mph from inputting your gears and some other parameters. Can I get a link to that please.

The XLX is still the top for absolute best top speed. But, the MMX8S is very close in performance AND runs your motor cooler. I just bought the MMX8S myself.

This is the one I use, its a mobile phone app.

Most cases drag cars run about 70 mph as the peak speed. I would gear the car for 85-90 mph and see how that goes.

I would like to get an array of pinions for drag purposes. What pinions would you all try out . I have a 46t spur in middle and way going to get . 20 21 22 23 and start there . Any suggestions. Also limited selection for 8mm mod 1 pinions??? Help please

You want as long a wheelbase as possible for any type of speed. You want to go straight. Short wheelbase is for drifting and donuts.

I was just concerned about stating within the rules of this class . I thought it was a no no but I haven’t been able to ask since this covid . I know most short wheel base anything usually stretches out for drag racing I was just seeing people’s thoughts .... ??

Nothing worse than having a car that you cannot race due to rules. I'd triple check before doing anything.

I can say from first hand experience that the longer wheelbase still can pull wheelies. My Stretched typhon pulled a wheelie at 60mph.
(TP 4060 and MM2 esc.)

So I decided to attempt to relocate the motor and diff for better weight distribution. I started with a fresh chassis and a old one
I then bolted the two together and used the old chassis as a jig
Punched it, drilled it , countersunk it.
And whaalaaa
Now I’m waiting on esc wheelie bar foams and a few other go fast goodies.

It’s coming along slowly. Next order is all the carbon fiber stuff. Not tons just a few parts from rcracing innovations.
