Hi All.

i bought a typhon 2 years ago and ran it a few times and that was that. I've recently gotten it back out and have been running it a lot and i want more speed.

i know i can get a 6s battery and that will help..well let me ask that.

will simply adding a 6s battery make it faster? and if not, what do i need to do? i remember when i bought it many ppl recommended just using the 4s until i got used to things, but i don't remember the full upgrade path to more speed other than adding the 6s battery.

If you've been running 4s, the switch to 6s will a big improvement! After you get used to the 6s power, if you still want to go faster, then it's all about gearing. Different teeth amounts for a Pinion gear(fits on the motor) and Spur gears (fits to the spool or center diff) allow for more acceleration less top end, more top end less acceleration. So forth!

you can go dual 3s packs or do a single 6s..
if running duals, use packs with a minimum of 4500mah and 50c or higher..

single 6s packs, minimum 5000mah 50c or higher..

A few thoughts -

For 6s and off-road, you will be a tire killing machine. Buggy tires are just not as tough as MT tires. Now may be a good time to upgrade to 2.8MT tires (with a wide mod so the rims clear the hubs). Plus the MT tire will help you put the power down.

Temps - watch them. Get a cheap IR thermometer, check the temp every now and again. first few runs, maybe every 5 minutes, till you know about what you have. If temps get above 180f, gear down.

Batteries - HobbyKing has a few good brands that won't break the bank. Their Graphine are GREAT batteries. Also the Turnigy HD are good. watch the pack size, though. Some of those non-ROAR packs are odd sized. I have a pair of the 3s 5000mah 65c graphines that fit the Arrma battery tray, but it is TIGHT. Mine are the older black Graphines, the newer green packs are supposed to be better.

thanks to all....i have to admit to something. i love driving these, but i don't know anything about the battery/motor/gear stuff. i can add and fix things, but its simple. all you need are tools and eyes. but the whole change t plug and watch temps is something i have 0.0 experience with.

can anyone recommend a good single 6s battery that FITS the typhon and comes with the xt90 connector? something i can just charge and run. rinse and repeat. or is this simply just not that simple?

i can order new tires. i have some street tires but i have already destroyed the stock ones. do you recommend something else? i see the 2.8MT tires but you mentioned a mod. is there a video of this mod? i need to see it. explaining it will be little to no value for a dunce like me.
also, can anyone recommend a good source for typhon parts? i need new tires and a new body and a new wing.

can someone tell me if this body will fit the blue version? this red body is the newest, i have the blue one the year prior. id like to buy this body but can't anything on whether this will fit mine?

I think the body will fit. The body mounts in the exploded diagram are the same.

for tires what do you recommend? is there a certain brand or style?

Buggy tires or the 2.8 MT tires?
For buggy tires I would look at 1/8 buggy Proline Bandlands or 1/8 buggy Duratrax Lockups. For MT tires Proline Badlands MX28 with 17mm hubs.

As @Jerry-rigged mentioned you have to do the wide mod. Basically you need Kraton/Outcast stub axles, hubs and axle carriers.

I am sure it would be cheaper to just buy the axles, hubs and axle carriers from Jennys Rc or Lumidave35 on eBay.

-edit- I lied with shipping it's about the same price but might as well go the Jennys route as you will end up with some spare parts left over.

thanks very much for compiling this list! it was very nice of you!

Slick's list from JRC looks right. Note that for the driveshafts, you only need the axle stub. On the CVD, push the small pin out (it will probably fall out when you are not looking) and the CVD falls apart. Rebuild it with the driveshaft from your Typhon.

A few more thoughts -

What pinion are you running? If you still have the stock 14t in there, you can really wake the buggy up with a 16t or 18t pinion. Cheap, easy, and adds a good punch of speed.

My MX28 badlands balloon a lot on 6s. I tried to do the fishing line strapping, Took me about 2 hours to strap the tire, the string came off the tires half way thru my first battery... LOL
