I was hoping someone knew of a solution for much higher body mounts. I’m keeping the existing shock towers (so can’t go taller there) but need to extend the posts quite a bit in fitting a new body. I don’t want to run a 4” (or so) body post because of the flex and lack of strength they would have. Do any other brands of RC use the same 8mm body posts like the 6s Arrmas? If so, I might be able to find something that would work from another brand. Nothing I’ve searched (for example, HPI Savage) lists any size specs except length. Neither does Arrma for that matter.
If anyone has any ideas I’m all ears.
Ideally, if anyone does know of other 8mm sized mounts out there I could search their brand offerings and probably find a solution.
Thank you, everyone!

Maybe some custom ~8mm(dia) carbon fiber posts with 3D printed endcaps to match the 6S body mounts?

Cut the top nub off the current mount where the body clip would normally go. Drill a hole thru where nub was, insert body post. Use body clips to secure to desired height. I used a body washer to provide a better base for the body, but we used to just rest it on the body clip in the days before washers.
These for example, but they are thinner then normal.

Ignore the duct tape, not part of body mounts.

I saw those and a number of ones like them, but they’re really skinny. They’re for the 1/10 stuff, like the Tamiya cars and such. Just too small.
The infraction bumper/body mount thingie mates with the 4s Mojave and senton posts pretty good. The "posts" are the foam posts but could be drilled to size.

I’m not sure I could make that work, but I might be able to fab something similar. It’s for the rear mount, not the front. I think what you showed might be perfect for front mounts, though.
Cut in middle & re-connect with carbon fiber tube, width you need.

That’s looking like the route I might take. I looked at some carbon tube earlier, I need to mic the Arrma posts exactly and get the correct ID tube.

I was actually thinking of a taller 3d printed mount for the shock tower and using the standard Arrma posts in that.
I’m going to get back down to my shop soon and look at what I have for spare rear Infraction and/or Lim mounts and maybe I’ll get an idea.
Is it ok if I bounce some ideas off you, @Tex Koder ? I might send some specs for a print if you have time and were inclined to do it.
Thanks guys, you gave me some stuff to chew on!

This is 13x11 carbon fiber tube. Fits really snug around the rectangular crossover. I cut some in half for a project. Drill thru both & secure with long M3, washer & nut.

The round down piece is 8mm diameter. Fits Arrma holes. The square is adjustable. Screw on type top, no body clips.

I like how they made the cross brace that you can put near the top of the square posts to help with rigidity, especially on really tall mounts.

Sure.
I'll do my best with the limit computing that I'm straddled with...
Still fighting with trying to recover all my lost current designs & custom Spec jigs..

Shoot over your ideas here or in PM and we can brainstorm on what you need to make it happen/work.

Maybe something like this?

That is exactly what I need, but with 8mm posts and not the 6mm that the Axial SCX has. However, that is something I could easily build with 8mm round stock and the standard Arrma posts on top. The upper support plate is something I’ll absolutely need, and is easily done with the CF that I have “in stock” in my shop. Thanks for sharing that, I think you’ve hit the nail on the head.
I liked the ProLine square post mounts for the same reason (they have an upper lateral brace too) but I checked a rig I have that has them and they flex a lot. Not ideal for a mount that’s going to be pretty tall.
I was leaning toward fabbing a taller mount that would bolt to the short Lim shock towers and attach the post mount on the top of that. But what you’ve shown is a much more elegant solution.

That’s pretty resourceful of you, and a great solution for your mount. I’ve been staring at your pictures on a big screen and I still don’t think I could get the height out of it that I need. My shock towers are way shorter than that.
I’m still going to go down later and take a look at the mounts on my MOJO to see if I could do something similar with increased height.

They are very flexible, yes. Almost too much.

Glad you mentioned that. I have the proline mounts on my sons monster truck and the square posts are very flexible.

I bet you could get some solid plastic 8mm rod and drill your own holes. That may be the best solution.
Then come up with some sort of brace to connect them.
