Big Rock Nero "Controversial"

The Nero was discontinued because Arrma copied too many patented designs from the Revo. http://upshotservices.s3.amazonaws....d7f7/56d5601a-6358-4a64-86e0-9fa103b57b2a.pdf

The way the shocks were oriented in the chassis was an infringement on this patent. Again I think it was stupid that a patent was even aloud to be applied to something like this https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/37/d3/ea/2185b7ac416597/USD567886.pdf

The steering setup while not being a direct 1:1 copy was close enough to infringe on this patent https://patents.google.com/patent/US7793951B2/en

Ah, yeah that's what happens when someone is salty that someone else took their idea and made it better.

You're right, it's really not Traxxas fault they were allowed to patent these things. But I do feel they're greedy just the same. It hasn't stopped me from buying their products, and I wouldn't steer anyone else from buying what they like✌️

Oh yeah the Nero is definitely what the Summit should have been.

Nero was my first "big" RC vehicle and still my favorite. Love the twin vertical plate chassis and everything snuggly in the middle, with the battery bays on the sides. Amazingly rugged... but a bit of a shelf queen for me now. I do see parts available, and wonder about the feasibility of 3d printing replacements.

Curious if anybody who had one could compare it to something like a Kraton EXB.

Yeah, maybe that's the worst part of the story is what could've been? No knowledge of the summit myself, but from what I've seen of it, an Arrmafied version sounds cool?

Right? Imagine how great the Nero could have been after its 4th revision? The Summit is actually a pretty fun truck even on the stock 775 Titan motor. It can bash, it can crawl you can use it as a trail truck like Jang said it is a jack of all trades master of none. When going brushless it is best suited for 4s though as 6s has a tendency to destroy the diffs and driveshafts. My Summit actually runs on a BLX185 esc.

Twin vertical plates!? What!? How do I contact HPI? Theres a lawsuit brewing here🤣

Looking at bird’s eye view of the Nero and Revo you can clearly tell it’s a copy.
Not only four shocks horizontally, but even four wheels as well and on top of that both a front and rear bumper! 😉🤣

Shame on Arrma!:ROFLMAO:

Because noobs have to have Rustlers and Stampede. 🤣
Tbh the Rustler 2wd XL-5 isn’t that bad, but it is overpriced for what it is. It can’t be bashed hard stock out of the box unlike the Arrma mega and 3s line. My friend purchased a Rustler 2wd XL-5 yesterday, it’s super under geared, the motor barely got warm after 30 minutes of use on a 2s LiPo. I geared it up 2 teeth on the pinion, we will see how fast it is tomorrow.

My fazon built from scratch with big rock hd driveshafts and shocks. Shelf 👸🏼

I was being sarcastic, I had a least a dozen of these two models. I recently sold a Rustler VXL 2wd and two Rustler 4x4 VXLs, so I'm totally familiar with these platforms.

Haha, can’t sense sarcasm through a screen…

You gotta love a patent system that allows some troll to patent something that's been in common use for a century.
Trademarks and copyrights on certain things as well. Like Warner Chappell Music had a copyright on the Happy Birthday song for the longest time :cautious:
