I'm about to order a Raider XL BLX for my 11 year old to replace his Traxxas Stampede and after reading through the forum I have some questions.

What 3S batteries are you using that fit?
What battery connectors are coming on the current version of the car? Did they ever switch to XT90?
Are the shock caps still aluminum?
Are the dog bones still too short?
It sounds like the Tbone front bumper is mandatory. Are there any other mandatory upgrades I should be aware of?

Thanks for the help.

This battery fits great: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000026887&I=LXCUBT&P=K
Deans +- Same connector on the above battery
Plastic shock caps
Haven't had any problems with the dogbones. There is a bit of movement. Purchased an extra set of o-rings with the intention of placing an additional one on each side, if any problem develops. So far not an issue. Have not driven on any seriously rough stuff or jumped it at all.
Upgraded to taller, wider tires & wheels. Handling improved. I've got these on back: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000026887&I=LXEUZL&P=K
And these on front: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000026887&I=LXFTCX&P=K

Hey there,

If you haven't already look up some of the "Build" threads...lots of good tips for upgrades. Must have IMO is the metal diff. This video is great, uses 4 spider gears instead of 2.

Prev poster hit most points. No xt90 although I soldered them instead of deans. Lots of fuss about 3s fitting, but I have Traxxas, venom, thunder power, and gensacearespammers that all fit (did not buy specific size). Same w dogbones no issues..I added extra o rings but don't seem necessary. Can't find the post but I think arrma corrected this issue.

T bone bumper is good, but less durable than on my other rcs as small and only 2 screws. I used longer screws than came w kit, and crazy glued the tops of the screws as bumper is mounted in to plastic. Lastly if on 3s w big tires watch your temps. Running stock spur, and 2.8 Badlands had to drop to an 11t pinion. Temp around 150_60 in grass. Super crazy fast, wheelies mid throttle!
