New castle 1717 8s 1650kv - Failure

I loaded this new system into my new limitless with 15/47 gearing and the esc burst into flames instantly. I've been in this hobby for over 10 years and was using 80c 4s batts and goot ec5 connectors.

I have submitted warranty claim to castle and will let you all know if they fix it. But until then, I would avoid this unit.

I have 3 of these esc’s and 2 with the 1717.. wow this is nuts! Hope it’s a fluke and they take good care of you.

I got it off ebay brand new. Mmx 8s with 1650kv motor

Damn. But the motor wasn’t the issue right?

No it seems it was the esc

I have three MMX8S and no problems other than the fans.

It's being sent to castle for a warranty review, I will keep you all posted if they take care of me regarding this issue.

There are esc clones now? Can you provide an example? I've never seen one, but I've seen plenty of knockoff motors.

So far I am unimpressed with this esc. The fan is a COMPLETE JOKE. Broke off 3 fan blades in 3 mins on a clean street. Then it blew up almost destroying my limitless

The fan is one story, blowing up is the other. Did it just overheat as a result or did it just blow up sitting on a bench in a box?

You can't drive your esc now? Thats news to me. I didn't know they broke when there was no debris or any reason for them to break.

I've been in this hobby for 12 years and I didn't do anything wrong.

Yeah not much to it. At the end of the day these little boxes have so much current going through them, there’s gonna be a few bad ones.
