So this just happened today!! Originally I wanted a exb and was really going to do a nice build but they had this at the hobby shop and had to have it. It’s not the exb model with all the goodies but this will be fine. I can upgrade as I go..
With that being said can anyone recommend me the must have upgrades that need to be done right off? I noticed the radio is nothing special for one, second, I did see some people saying there was a bad batch of trucks that the diffs need to be shimmed, does this apply for the v5 models? I noticed it comes with extra shims so I’m guessing I have to do it myself? I’ve done diffs in other vehicles before but never worked on a kraton. Not this new anyways haha. One last thing. Let’s say I want to upgrade to m2c parts, When upgrading chassis and braces, do I have to get the hinge braces and all that also? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Turn the steering rate trim down on the remote so it does not overwork the servo and also use the shims in the box to make sure the diffs are all good.
The SLT3 is also really good has great range and no lag.

I would do the hinge pin braces regardless, all of my beefed up v4's run them. I haven't seen the v5 upgrades to know what all is weak for sure, but towers and center braces are probably a good bet. I think there are v5 towers out now with m2c and JBI.

Nice thanks. I will check out jbi I have heard the name before. I plan to upgrade the chassis to m2c as well as braces as I was told they bend really easy.

So I don’t need the M2c chassis to use the 2 center braces? I thought I had to buy them all together in order to use them

No all parts are freely interchangeable and standalone. You can do one at a time or all at once. I wouldn't upgrade just you 'heard you should'.
Upgrade when it breaks, best approach between learning to drive and understanding what upgrades are really worthwhile.

Bumper & alu braces would be top of my list. Not much else. These trucks are tough.

Awesome thanks.

I have the Kraton V5. I checked my diffs and shimmed as I needed. I added an extra shim in the rear. Yours might be different. Any front bumper will do. The EXB bumper is nice. Try and snag the exb bumper from Jenny’s and you also get the alum braces and extra goodies. You’ll need to get the screws and spare parts bag for the extra screws to install the exb front bumper. You’ll end up snapping the wing mount so the extra screws will be handy to have and you get an extra wing mount from the exb bumper order.

Sick!! I changed the gear today and put some decals lol I can’t wait to run but I want to do the diffs before too long. I have to wait to get fluids for when I do the shins so can anyone suggest good starting points for diff fluid? What’s a good brand
Some pics from today
