So it says "6S" on the box but you mention "3S", ...are you starting him on 3S and then moving him up to the 6S power?

Looks like he's loving it either way. Great father and son bonding experience I'll bet. (y)

I thought they were only 4s or 6s. If 3s was a typo then don’t matter, otherwise you might want to look at going 4s as you don’t want to run it under powered

He’s doing great on it.. as time goes he’ll get bumped to 4s, I just used the jumper and a single 3s and it runs out at 30 mph and will still do wheelies on command..

The ESC from every thing I’ve read is 3’s capable with no issues

If it became an issue you could always throw a 10t pinion in and run 4s ?

I kind of think along the same lines as @Lazy Bushman. You need to be weary of under powering the esc, which could in turn, affect the motor. If you say you did your homework, I'll take it on your word. This type of electronics is pretty fussy, and you don't want to end up with smoke or worse.

Update:... total of 9 packs of 3s ran on the outcast and still running great with no issues.. last about 28 min on 5000 mah 50c 3s.
Awesome gift man!! He looked excited for sure:)
So with running 3s, did you do any other mods? Can this be done with any pinion and or a kraton?

I did this with my KRATON as well to try it out before I bought the outcast.. worked great I just used the supplied jumper wire and a 50c 3s with 100c burst. The esc will run perfectly on 11.1 volts but needs the high discharge ability to keep it stable.. older 25-35c would probably garner much unneeded resistance and create heat and havoc.

Odd, as i thought i read others saying don't do this because it will over heat the esc or motor because it wasnt designed to run that slow or low.
It would be nice to have the option when getting others used to how it handles before moving up in power as your doing
