I got my 223s Vorteks DSC yesterday and already put two packs through it. On 3s it's wicked fast for it's size. Has a good amount of power. Even with the wheelie bar if you're doing a full throttle wheelie it will jump to the left or right and flip. I'm OK with that though, as if you tone it back it you can hold a wheelie fairly straight. The servo is pretty slow, but I don't seem to notice it much just bashing around, though it does have enough power to turn and dig in in the grass just fine. On 3s at full speed the DSC helps as it can get squirrely without it. Next I ran a 2s battery, and this is where I feel the sweet spot is for the target audience. Even on 2s you get plenty of power to do wheelie, but it's not as crazy fast, which is great for kids, who I bought this for. I didn't jump on 3s, but on 2s I did jumps and it surprising has pretty good air control in the air. I was able to land it flat easier than my Kraton 4s. It's really fun jumping it as compared to my Kratons as it's not as heavy. This makes it a great frontyard/backyard basher as you're not leaving giant dents in the yards like the K4/K6 does.
What I don't like is the body mounting system. It's awkward to release the body by pulled the kids pen. It's jut not easy to get you hand in a good position you're bending the body. However, it did stay on during bashing. On Jumps I can get the body making a crinkle sounds, so I'm going to probably reinforce it pretty good. The back wing is mounted on the body and it really bends if you land on the tail. I don't know how long the body will last.
The clip system that holds the servo connector and wires popped off almost immediately when I started jumping. I think I will notch the bottom of the bracket and run a zip tie through it to hold it in place. Pay attention to this because there is enough slack that the servo wires can reach the ground.
The motor stay pretty cool even driving in some pretty tall unmoved grass, maybe 4-5 inches. I tried driving in the grass when it had morning dew on it and it didn't go anywhere if you stopped, lol, no traction.
It looked like the back diff was leaking when I took it out of the box but it doesn't appear to be leaking more since driving.
The larger Spektrum 3k 5000mah battery that was on sale with charger for $60 does fit but it's pretty tight. The battery door is flexed a little when you push it down to close it.
On jumping it bottoms out really easy and I was only doing 7-10 foot jumps in the front yard in grass. The shocks will need some tunning if you're jumping.
All in all I think it's great buy to get this style of rock solid durable chassis with brushless already in installed. Great for kids to run with you using your existing 2s or 3s batteries. You'll most likely need the ic3 to ic5 adapter for your 2s batteries. It's less maintenance with no front or center diff, which means less work you have to do to keep running.
