The electric Traxxas Slash’s 2008 debut in part helped usher in the end of the nitro dominance that its T-Maxx forebear helped create.

Probably the primary reason I loathe this model, and have a reflexive, visceral negative reaction to SC trucks in general, is that it almost single-handedly started the death spiral of nitro in my area.

So many were giving up their truggies, buggies, MTs etc. for this junky platform and snooze-inducing rock crawlers, and it contributed to me losing interest in the R/C scene in general.

Fortunately, the trend seems to have largely expired, and I don't see many around nowadays. Can't say the same for crawlers.
