@Kusher…Thank you for selling me your rig my friend! I’ve already begun the rebuild. My wife just got me a few presents and I can’t wait till they arrive. Meanwhile I’ll strip the car down, clean and reassemble.

Nothing wrong with a slow build.👍 It’s fun so why rush it, especially if you have more cars, so you still have runtime 😉.
Total lead time for a complete service (cleaning every part, screw, sanding and painting the chassis etc.) for me is quire a few weeks. If I do it during winter it can take up the whole winter🤣.

Yup! I love a good newish project. And yes I have several cars so I’m in no rush. I need to do maintenance on a couple so I’ll be busy. I am getting a steroid epidural in my neck this morning so once I can move I’ll be working on it the next couple days.

While slowly disassembling the car I am starting with the body. Kusher did a good shoo goo job on this and the only bad wear is the bed corners. First I stripped all stickers and scrubbed clean. Since I don’t like wings I am filling in the gap with proline scraps and repairing the cracks to the rear section with shoo goo. Once done I’ll sand down and repaint the whole thing a slightly darker metallic blue. Then I’ll paint on windows/grill etc and apply a few stickers.

Repair begun. Now to let dry for a few days. I need to order more shoo goo also.

It’s turning out like I hoped! Just need more shoo goo, which I’ve ordered, then will repair the worn cracked corners etc. I’ll sand and paint it blue just a bit darker then stock. A Traxxas maxx tail bed protector will protect the ass end. Think I’ll have to cut in down a couple inches but it should work. Lastly a t-bone wheelie bar, which attaches beneath the rear so it should work with the closed bed.

Meanwhile I’m going slow with the car itself. Need to fully disassemble and clean…but not being familiar yet am a touch hesitant. I need to get a screws kit from Jenny’s also. All I got are 1/10 size hardware.

This is a completely different critter from a 3S car. I love it! I now understand people saying ‘enjoy the 3S cars but for real quality go up to 6s’. I’m so glad that when I bought tools and supplies I went above and beyond what I needed for the other cars. Im using everything in my toolbox now and it’s great.

I’m taking this thing down to individual nuts and bolts, bagging and tagging all hardware separately and will deep clean. Can’t really afford to do a lot of upgrades right now but will get some new parts off Jenny’s and replace anything that needs it.

Body is near ready for paint once the weather warms up next week. I think it’ll look good once done. Man I’m glad I got this car 🙃

Yup I got them from a fellow member though, not retail. Haven’t tried them yet. Put them on the granite as I think they’ll be good for jumping at the bmx and skate park.

I don’t have a scale unfortunately…

Looks like a fun project! I like the repair of the old body as opposed to just buying a new one.

Ok, it’s 60f degrees and the thing is fully reinforced, sanded repaired and ready for paint.

I’m using two cans of blue paint I have left over from another project. Mostly it’ll be regular old Tanyia Blue and I have just enough left over the metallic blue flake to give it a final flare I hope. Here’s after the first couple of coats. I’m already happy with it lol. The stock blue was too…light color almost Smurf like.
4 coats total blue and now the metallic flake. I did have just enough for a good dusting and it really sparkles in the sun 😊 I’ll let it dry for a day or so then hit it with clear coat. It turned out just as I hoped.

Fresh coat of black underneath and done. I’ll paint on windows and details and stickers another time. Just need to get the car actually running now 🙃

Nice work. Sometimes I'll fix things I could otherwise replace relatively inexpensively just to see if I can and to gain some experience. Looks pretty dang good.
Yup, that’s kinda what I’m doing. I’ll get a clear notorious body and paint it in the near future, it’s just not in the budget right now so I’m having fun with what I got.

Thanks man!

All shined up! Used a flexible lacquer gloss that we use to water proof stickers and such. I tested it on a scrap piece and it seemed to hold up well.

Also fitted the Xmaxx tailgate protector. Took a few inches out of the center and it mounted in pretty clean. I’ll use the left over piece on the roof of my new granite shell. Fits perfect.

I need to find the notorious logo. The one where it’s a half circle with ‘motorworks’ below to put on the door panels. Or I’ll recreate something similar and cricut it in silver.

I need to work on cleaning the actual car now and start putting it back together.
