Well, I’ll be up and running in a few hours. I tore the truck down and cleaned everything. I had to scrape melted plastic off the front center dog bone, lol. All the tar came right off the aluminum parts, but I think the smell is going to be there a while. I am going to see if the hobby shop will warranty the Savox SW1210SG servo that I bought 2 weeks ago. I’ll be upfront with him and tell him what happened. He’s a real good guy so I think he will throw me a replacement. I tested my spare BLX185 along with the motor and everything runs perfectly. One thing I did notice is that the center differential was super tight....even locking up occasionally. I took it apart and pulled one of the sun gear shims out and now it is smooth. The shim was noticeably concave in the center.

All in all it turned out far better than it I thought. From day 1 the truck would hesitate (COG) when I would go full throttle from a standstill (i.e. standing backflip). I thought it was a diff skipping gears and I even replaced both the front and the rear. I now believe it was the esc all along. I guess I’ll know for sure when I test it out in a few hours.

The last thing I want to comment on is the Arrma warranty process. I understand that they need a way to determine the warranty start date and since I purchased the truck from a private seller they have no way of knowing when it was originally purchased. But my truck has only been out for 4 months or so. Clearly it is still within the warranty period. I’m a little miffed that they wouldn’t warranty a fried esc. I would like to see their trucks serialized. Then there should be a way to register the truck and start the warranty period. There should also be a way to transfer ownership. What do people do when they need warranty on a truck they received as a gift, where there is no purchase receipt? Are they SOL? And what really gets me is that when I claimed warranty on my Kraton, I just sent in a copy of the charge from my Amex statement, which they accepted. I could have told them this esc was from that truck and done the same thing, but I was honest. The whole process seems half-assed. Anyway, it is what it is. Thankfully I had the spare esc from my Typhon ?

Lucky you had that spare. Still I feel they should have taken care of you. Can you contact the person you bought it from and see if they have a receipt you can use?

I thought about that, but it’s not worth the hassle. I have a plan.

1. Email the support specialist I have dealt with in the past and state my case. The person I dealt with yesterday didn’t even sign their name and referred to me as “RC User.”

2. If the above doesn’t work, I’ll wait a while and submit a claim from my "Kraton." How can they tell what truck the esc is from?

Good news, bad news on the servo. The good news is he is going to give me a new one for free. The bad news is he doesn't have one in stock. I have to go back Wednesday to get it. I am going to put in the 1256TG in the meantime.

Ol' Smokey (truck's new name) is back!

oh Man I'm so sorry, have you tried contacting Horizon Hobby instead of Arrma ? when I had my servo issue Arrma didn't even reply to my emails or phone calls. Horizon Hobby instead replied to my the same day shipping a brand new servo no questions asked. They only required for the product information (model, serial, pics ... )

Good luck Buddy !

bickety...what brace is that? i looked through thread but didnt see mention of it... that one is nice....!!

cool thanks...that is the way to go...the aluminum rods kinda suck....my towers look like tacos...i don't even care...i just let em ride...i need to get those and some voltage towers

Did you have to modify this top deck or does it fit easily with the Voltage chassis braces?

I had to modify it with a dremel. It wasn't that hard though. The deck does make accessing certain areas much harder. It blocks the receiver box and you have to remove it to remove the center diff. Removing it means removing the wing mount. So it can become a pain on the ass. It does look nice though.

How do you like that chassis brace? I know it’s still new to you

It’s a love hate relationship. I love the way it looks and the support it provides. I hate how difficult it makes it to access certain areas that used to be super easy. I’m getting used to it though.
