Hi everyone,

Im putting together a parts list to (finally) upgrade my K8S and I originally had the M2C outdrives as my choice of upgrade, but then saw Vitavon’s offering with the drive cups and I thought I’d learn more here

I did some research and cannot for the life of me find out what 40# steel with hardening treatment is, which is what Vitavon uses. M2C on the other hand uses hardened 4140 steel which was easy to find a lot of info on.

My question is, which is the better option? Im going to be doing general bashing and eventually putting in a bigger motor. I’d like to beef up the rig with parts like this as I’m saving for the motor/ESC, if that helps everyone for answers and opinions.

Thank you!

I've not had to replace a single out drive cup on either of my 8s rigs. I think you can save money here and put it towards a new chassis or something.

I’d honestly skip it until you start wrecking them. I run my 8s rigs a little more conservatively powered than @Moirae but still plenty of power, and I’ve never had an issue with the stock ones.
