You all are right. As the only difference in the steel exb diffs are the steel input gear and crown gear . These must be shimmed then also the plastic works at least for me. The internal gears of the diff where always metal for the 4s models. And they hold up well without shimming and I don't know a method to shim these. Sorry for being not precise. Also the exb should have included a metal/alu yoke like the hr ones as they tend to get hot and the bearing seat in the yokes get f...
 
Yeah that's what I thought. I can't see where you'd add a shim to the internal gears on a 3s. The diff and yoke setup generally use a shim on the Crown gear side (I think).
Yeah, you could move the shim to the other side or add shims to adjust the gear mesh between the crown gear and the input gear.
