Looking at a Max 5 Combo. Currently thinking 1100KV motor with 23T/46T gearing.

Any advantage going to the 800KV motor with a larger pinion, say a 32-33T for similar ratio?

Looking to bash it and ~ 60MPH top speed.

Thanks all for the advice.

Not a fan of the 800kv motors as they are too heavy and need rear support.

You can go with 1100kv with 26T but you ain't hitting 60. In order to get that you need at least minimum 30t but your motor , battery and ESC will overheat specially in summer time.

I have a Hobbywing 1100 / XLX2 25/47 in my Kraton 8S. And I have a castle 800 / XLX2 30/39 in my Outcast 8S. I used to have 30/39 on the 1100 also and it was so fast it was scary. It also heated up very fast. But it still heats up much faster than the castle 800 even with the small pinion. With the 800 I can run a full hard bash on a hot day with 1 stock fan and it stays cool. It’s also got more torque if your looking for the snappy Instant wheelie. I’d say at 30/39 in the 800 is comparable speed to the 1100 25/47.

I know this was awhile ago but I need some help on 8s outcast exb. I want to run the 39/30 with my hobbywing 800kv motor but it won’t fit because it is hitting the steering components. Maybe the castle 800kv isn’t as long? Currently I’m using 39/39 which is making it too hot

Im using hw800kv 39/39 without a fan its around 175-180f motor with 95f weather outside. I fitted a single fan temps now a steady 150f with some average weather temps outside. How hot is yours getting?

Good to know maybe my gear mesh was too tight!

41 mph vs 64 mph. A lot slower than stock. Seems like you really don't want to add that 39t spur lol.

I just did this build and you can buy the m2c steering bell crank. It fits. It’s also a freaking monster. I love it

For now yeah..but later around I will make the swap 39 spur. What is the best combination for 800kv +39 spur? I don't want heating issues and I don't care to go crazy fast either..

36/39 = about 58 mph. I think that's a great place to start.
