Run to the local arts and crafts store and pick up some foam sheets about 2 or 3 mm thick. it has the consistency of double sided tape but without the sticyness. Use shoe goo to adhere it to the floor of your battery tray. after replacing the screws with the appropriate length this will not only smooth out the surface of your tray floor and raise your battery up a bit it will provide some cushion from chassis slap. you may have to cut the foam into multiple pieces if you want the battery tray to be continuously adjustable.
