If you do paint them I suggest really cleaning them up good and scuffing them beforehand. Also after they are painted and cured cover them with a clear like nail polish or the paint will just flake off right away and still may even with the nail polish.

I would point you in a different direction.
Here’s mine with painted wheels and tires when it was brand new, never run. Tires don’t hold up long obviously, but wheels do
. Painted in gunmetal with few drops of charcoal.
