Arrma RC's
  1. 4x4-Mega
  2. Kraton EXB
As I've mentioned in other threads... I am new to RC. My son has a Granite, that's getting a brushless and 3S setup for Christmas, and I jumped into a Kraton EXB 1/8.
I can see needing some tools and parts while at the track or out bashing through fields. What spare parts should I get some of? Any special tools, grease, thread lock I should keep around?

Well grease for bearings/diffs people like red n tacky here. 2mm,2,5mm drivers and blue/red threadlock. Must upgrades i would say for the exb would be hot racing gearbox for the rear diff. spare parts i will say arms the front steering hubs and wing mounts(rpm or 3D printed) the stock ones don't last long

Look into MIP Hex drivers, they are expensive but work well and will last a lifetime.

An assortment of diff lubes helps too, so you can figure out the configuration you like.

The drive train is important and you want to always have the faster car than your son. Think about something like a Hobbywing Max 6 combo with the 1650kv motor, I call this combo the "Economical Beast."

For the radio? Run far away from spektrum.

Hard to pin down not knowing how you bash and not to buy parts you do not need, yet. Just drive it and feel it out. I have the Kraton and have not broken a part on it since the Oct purchase. Tools are good to have. Good tools :)

Thanks for the hex recommendation, but why stay away from spectrum radios? They seem to be what I see a lot online as well as what the hoppy store here has.

Sorry for the slow response, I got a DX5 Rugged and the response delay is extremely slow. The user interface is not friendly and pain to use. Range isn't great. Also I find the telemetry worthless and that was the main reason I bought the remote.

To keep it real the T3PB is my favorite. Too old now but the last adjust on the face.
