Man I wish I had kept my old RC kits from childhood. I had the obligatory Tamiya Frog, OG stampede, a few RadioShack kits from the late 80s. An OG rustler with that killer ford ranger-esque body and my first and only nitro; a traxxas 4tec that was a lot of fun. Teal truck is a slash vxl 4wd that has been converted to just about every type of vehicle you can make from it and It’s currently awaiting an STRC 1/8 buggy conversion just for 5hits lol. Not pictured are a losi crawler, hpi mini rs4 M3. I also have a 1st gen losi mini-t Baja bug that’s killer and will be my next project. Needs a single steering link up front and an updated power system.

Wait giving smaller rears makes better crawler?!
It does on this one ?
Generally speaking, having a little bit of over drive to the front gives you better vertical performance. Digging into the gear ratios in the diffs on this one is difficult, so I just went with the tire thing to see if it worked.

You might look at this and say it's a cheap toy from banggood and you'd be right. However the rgt rock hammer (hsp, force rc, FTX, redcat all have similar) can be a real performer. It was marketed as a rock racer and it's terrible for that. If you lower it a bit, increase the steering, put a hw1080 and slower motor in it you really have a good crawler. Much lower cg than other similar cheap crawlers.

My son's WLtoys 144001 we converted to brushless with a 4000kv system? Contact foam tires. First couple 2s passes hit almost 48mph still have to go see what it will do on 3s, thinking in the 60's...
