Afternoon all

I've ordered this pinion but doesn't seem to fit even though it says 5mm. Will I be ok shaving the inside of the pinion a bit if I can.

I have run into this from time to time as well. I have used a 5mm bit to open it up a little, caution the flat side will be opened up as well. My preferred way is to use a round file to deburr the hole.

I've had to dremmal the inside of the pinion, took a bit off and take the smallest amount of the lip of this section.

Chain saw file inside the D-hole and polish the motor shaft with an abrasive wheel until it's slip fit.

Rather it be a little tight than loose...

😂
Is slip fit better then tight/snug lol
Absolutely, if you have to tap the pinion to get it seated initially you’ll find out the hard way after many heat cycles. I’ve bent a rotor shaft removing one even with proper fixturing and prying with heat. No bueno, having a nice slip fit allows you to later swap pinions without even removing the motor.

Annoyed with it really. Can't get the pinion screw secured proper the way the motor is mounted to the mount. Going to do a post tomorrow when I've had another look.

Feel like setting the cnut on fire at the moment 😂 pardon the language. My brain "get back into rc, be relaxing for you"
