I spend a lot of time at the last one the past couple of years since I found it. They keep it pretty well mowed. In the Spring/Fall, the grass is pretty short, but after a rain in the late Spring and Summer, it can grow quick and I'll actually just pack up and head home because it really drags on the RC's causing them to overheat. It's a public track that is all grass. Kids don't actually bike there very much and when they do, they make like 2 laps and leave.

I'm always on the hunt for new places to run.

I’m in Barrington the hobby town in Lake in the Hills has a out door 1/8 track that is open in the summer. I live right next to Deer grove forest preserve witch I like to take my Tallion to. Other than that I just bash on my property. We have a skate park in town but it’s all fenced in and usually busy with skaters. I am going to have to check out that BMX track come spring. Are they cool with running RC or is a sneak attack in order?

I've been to "The Hill BMX" probably 5 times in my life. Only once did I run into other RC guys there and that was the first time I went many years ago. They spent 90% of their time working on trucks or trying to get them running... while I drove mine around and after a few hours, I was out of battery and they had all left.

Anyway, the last time I went there, I did notice signs saying "NO RC" with a picture of a buggy on it. I usually go early in the spring or late in the fall and hope I don't run into anyone, considering it's almost an hours drive to get there.

Once or twice, there was a single kid or two on a bmx, but I just stayed out of their way. The track is long enough that unless they are hard core, they kind of do what I do. They tinker around in one spot, so I move and run elsewhere on the track until they move. It is a fun place to run, but after seeing some of the derelicts I've seen this past year running RC's at my skate park... I can see why they wouldn't want RC's there. I found that almost every single basher I run into doesn't give a rats ass about anyone else. With the limited places I have to run, the last thing I want to do is irritate someone to the point to where they get signs put up or calling the police. I don't need that kind of stress. lol!

Have you ever been kicked out of the Elgin location? I know that they have no RC signs at the park.

Hey Olds that’s a nice looking 300 you got there. I have a 06 srt8 in the garage.

No. But honestly, if I did make the drive and there were more than 2 or 3 kids there, I'd probably just head back home or run around off the track for a while. Out of the 5 times I did go, I only saw 1 or 2 kids there on bikes on 2 occasions. On 3, I saw no one.

Kind of funny... I've been driving Mercury Grand Marquis for the past 16 years prior to getting the 300. My commute used to be 110 miles every day. If I could afford it, I would have gotten a caddy for the ride. But running 25K a year chews through warranties like tic tacs. I finance for 4 years and usually, by the time it's paid off, I'm over 100k. Then my wife gets my car and I get another. She puts at most 2k a year on a car.

They they quit making MGM's... Prior to the MGM's, I tried a ford contour with a 4cyl in it. It required a lot of cash around the 75k mark, tapet cover seal, water pump, timing belt... Then I got a dodge intrepid with a v6. AC flaked at 50K, $1k to fix. Trans died at 75k, $4k to fix. Then got an 97 olds LSS with the highly regarded 3800 v6 in it. Blew a head gasket at 60K and by the time it got to a mechanic, the main bearings were toast... $3k for used engine installed...

Then I got my first MGM, a 98. My favorite car. Rode like a couch. No issues until my wife had it for almost 4 years (I had it for 4 before). Some wonky part on the intake manifold blew out and a door in the HVAC broke causing 100% heat always, $1k for each. Both issues showed up around 140k. So, I got another, an 04, had a fuel pump issue around 80k, $800. Then another 07, no issues and still have it, it's on it's 8th year of me owning it.

All of which of course required tire changes, brakes, plugs/wires, etc. The MGM's were the most reliable for me.

I just paid the last payment on the 300c last week. A month ago, the trans pan got a hole in it the size of a lemon. I was certain the trans was blown... $4k to fix. But, they replaced the pan, filled it back up and it's been fine. No idea why the pan rusted out. Was $350 for the pan and new trans oil.

I wash the thing like it's a princess. Actually, I get my and my wife's car fully detailed/waxed/buffed every spring and wash at least once a month, usually more. Oil changes every 3k.

Anyway, the year before I got the 300, my company moved 15 miles closer to where I live and they started a work from home policy. My miles per year has gone from 25K to a more normal 11-12K. So, I splurged a bit when I got it. I think this time I'll keep it, then get my wife a nice camry with low miles or something that suits her better than the big cars I prefer. Figure I can pay it off in 3 years, and by then I'll need something else.

Wow... I got wordy.

I grew up in NW Indiana (born in Valpo) and lived in Morton, IL (not Grove) down near Peoria for a few years. Still miss living in Illinois. Love visiting Chicago. I try to make a Bears game as often as I can, but this year might be a year off.

Yeah, I miss all my Hot Rod buddies back there. Never went to a Bears game, but saw the Cubs play many times.

Yep, I was a Bleacher Bum!

As a kid we used to go to old Comisky and Wrigley for games. Back in the days when they let you bring your own food and beer. ???

Spent 3-4 hours at the bmx track in Yorkville yesterday. Got rained on while walking from the road, sat in the pavilion for half an hour, then ran 3 trucks there. Was a bit sketchy with the wet grass, but a fun time regardless. Just wish it wasn't so cloudy as the gopro doesn't do so well then.

I actually went up to Milwaukee my buddy that got me into the hobby lives there now and bashed a bit but he told me that there was a dirt bmx track somewhere by Palatine anyone know of this track?

There used to be a track in RLB behind the Kohls at the skate/BMX park I used to frequent about 10 years ago. I'm up in the Fox Lake area. If you guys know of a spot that needs some grooming and the city is okay with it, lemme know! I'll be there helping when we can get the F out!
