Please take a look at my mini bc SKYRC charger and my old power supply. Will this be sufficient enough to charge 3s 7000mah batteries 2 at a time on my parallel charge. Will it take a long time to to fully charge or should I just get a better set up.

Can I still use my power supply? Just get a charger? Or both?

3s 7000mah . Each battery will require 88.2w (7x4.2.x3) to be charged at 1C. 2 batteries in parallel would require at least 176.4 W of power. So I would recommend any charger that can deliver at least 200W of power or more for charging at 1C. ISDT T6 would be my choice. 600W of awesomeness.

Another data point - you power supply says 20A at 13.8v - that works out to 276 watts. Factor in a bit of voltage sag, and add a safety factor, and I'd say you should be able to get 200w out of that PSU safety and reliably.

As others have said, you need about 90W of charger power to charge your batteries at 1C / 7A for a one hour charge time. To parallel charge them, you would need the charger to be running at 14a / 180W. Your PSU can handle the wattage, so you are good there.

One last thing to think about - for your Talion, if you decide to get a single 6s pack later, you need a charger that can do the full 180w per channel...

So to charge both your batteries at one time, here are a few options-

A single channel charger than can do 200a and 14a
Or
A two channel charger than can do at least 100w/7a per channel.

A few options -

2 channels, 240w shared power, AC/DC $120

This is one of the cheaper 2-channel charger with more than 100w per channel. UP is an OEM and makes chargers for many other brands, including some big brands like Reedy.

2 channels with 200w each / 400w total, AC/DC $180-

This may seem like overkill, but if you get a 6s pack later, it will have no problem with it. This one also has AC input, so you can retire your PSU.

2 channel 300w/20a DC, $135

This is my charger. Great charger. It is a bit overpowered for your current setup, but again, once you start getting 6s bricks, you will be glad for the extra power. Your current PSU won't power this charger to full power, but for your current batteries it will do fine. Once you start getting more / bigger batteries, you will need to upgrade your PSU... When I first got this charger, I had a 350w PSU. It worked for about a year, but then I started pushing it to see how much wattage I could get out of the PSU, and a burned it up. With my new 1050w PSU, I will often charge 2 4s packs at 10A each, and the charge does not break a sweat.

Lots of other options out there too. One thing to note, with some DC charger (like the ISDT brand chargers) you need 24v to get full power - at 12v, they will not put out the full rated wattage - so read reviews carefully.

Thanks for the help Jerry... Just purchased the SKYRC D400.
