So this is not a political discussion, so please don't make it one. Instead this is about corporate greed.

I know the tariffs are a thing, they're going to happen, and I'm prepared for it. Right, wrong, or indifferent, they're happening. As most of you know, Horizon just increased their prices substantially to cover the tariffs. Ok. The current stock that these price Increases are on, are already here. They're not paying tariffs on them. This is an obvious money grab from Horizon, and definitely not cool.

Guys, as much as I hate to say this, they're slowly turning into Traxxas. Back in the day, Traxxas was the cool company. I'm talking back in the 90s, when it was all about Associated, Losi and Kyosho. Traxxas was the peoples brand. But they got big, then, in stepped the greed. Horizon is next. Just my .02 fellers, take it for what it's worth.

I hate to agree with you, but I do.
It is looking like that slowly but surely. :cautious:

Before tariffs was even a discussion, they started doing little things that one can look at as a company make-over for more profit.
The RTR...the use of Spektrum more and more...and other little things thats been showing up more and more.
I'm sure the more one looks at the past couple years, the more you'll see the company shakedown they been doing.

I get that a business is in business to make money, but I hope it doesn't turn into giving themselves a bad name from their own fan base.

I hear ya…

This is why I support my LHS.
They just about ALWAYS hook me up with a discount which is awesome!

There are some items (M2C, Scorched, and Ram Jam) that I purchase online, but I can probably count the times I purchased RC stuff from Horizon, AMain, or Amazon on 1 hand.

Traxxas is up their own booties regarding pricing, but the recent bump from Horizon takes their cars out of the sweet spot. The 4x4 223s models were undercutting every Traxxas/Team Corally equivalent. The 2wd Fury 223s was an insane deal at $229. The brushed Gorgon at $139 was the best sub-$200 truck out there. Now it's $180 and a lot less attractive.

I agree, unfortunately I'd put money on the fact that they've been waiting for something like tariffs to happen so they could jack their prices.

Completely agree @Xjeepguy...

I've actually took a huge step back with rc recently when I realized just how out of hand it is getting....
You nailed it about traxxas and horizon fallowing now..

For the first time in 30 years I havnt been excited to look at new rc's at all. Infact I'm avoiding anything new at all right now because I'm so annoyed with these companies..

For now I've been sticking with what I have and what I'm building. Old school rc's and dream machines.
It's not even about money....
I'm making far more now then I ever have.. I can easily afford whatever I want. I just have no interest with these ridiculous prices now. These guys have become money hungry.

Visited LHS today to pick up some springs. Place sells both Traxxas and Arrma. I asked him about the Big Rock 223s and he confirmed that he’ll be getting one of each color next week.

He tells me that Horizon prices are going up so if I want the Big Rock 223s, now is the time to buy it because come February 27th at midnight, it’ll cost $50 more. Owner started crying (literally) and went on about how he isn’t making ends meet as it is. And he showed me a stale burger that he was eating that he had made the night before because he needed the money to buy baby formula for his sister’s kid instead. True or not, I felt for the guy.

I prepaid for the Big Rock and bought a Rustler Ultimate. But noticed that I forgot to buy the springs when I got home.

It depends on the car, but some Arrmas were underpriced before and some overpriced. The 4S V2.5’s were $30 cheaper than the V2’s somehow despite being more expensive to make in every conceivable way. The 3S V4 cars also were originally the same price as the V3’s were 4-5 years ago.

I think the 6S Kraton EXB V2 was like same price as the V1 RTR? Can’t remember, but I know I said something in my review.

For those cars, a price hike is warranted as they were under market value before.

Same situation here. It's not about the money, it's more principle.

I’m stuck with the all powerful internet.

Would love for Arrma to give us the EXB rollers again. I hate I never got a V1 kraton exb 6s. I bought the 8s exb roller along with the outcast exb roller.

Those had a great price point and we wasn't stuck with the Spektrum electronics. I like the 223's, but the 2 in 1 system rubs me the wrong way. Forced to deal with something that they wanted to be cheap on IMO. And as we all know once prices go up, they rarely come down.

They're taking a line from Traxxas's playbook, and forcing you to either use their electronics, or replace everything. I've been pretty happy with some of my Spektrum stuff, but to buy a Spektrum radio on par with my Noble NB4+, I'd have to spend $700. Not going to happen.

I'll be honest, things like this will carry weight when I am in the market for a new rig. I love Arrma and Losi designs, but their parent company is causing me to look elsewhere more than I used to. I love most Traxxas designs, but the same principles hold me back more with them these days.

Thats does seem to be the path they are shooting for.
You are lucky in the sense that your not stuck on stupid like I am and are open to other brands/products.
I'm a fan of specific products/brands and don't really look at other stuff.

You'd be surprised how nice some other rigs can be. Check out the Mad Wagon VE kit version from Kyosho. It's an incredible rig for the money. Handles better than any other basher I own.

I always have had Kyosho on my radar but never pulled the trigger.
Others are HPI and CEN.

There are some other smaller companies too, that I would be willing to try, but I just haven't yet.

My go-to's have been Tamiya, Losi, Axial, and Arrma.
1/24's have only been FMS.
I would love if Axial got rid of the worm gear axles. If they did, I would be all over their 1/24's!
