Swapping out connectors on my Kraton because that's what my batteries have.

Even with a new TK950 station it takes a while to heat up the bullets to melt the solder into them

Still very new to soldering so my technique is probably at fault but I never get near 6-10 seconds recommended time to get the bullet hot enough to melt the solder even though I do tin the tip

Do the bullets take longer to heat up or is it more probably my technique or I possibly damaged the original tip due to same?

Sorry. EC5 connectors

I have a Trak Power station which I believe is similar (mine goes to about 900 deg). The thing is, these self regulate or “pulse.” So it’s not like 2 mins of straight heat.

  1. What tip are you using? You need to use the flat wide tip.
  2. Use Flux when soldering, it conducts the heat and makes the job 100x easier
  3. When soldering bullets, put a little solder on the tip with a little Flux inside the bullet and wait till it boils. Once it’s hot enough (15 seconds or so) you take the soldering tip to the outside of the bullet and directly put the solder INSIDE the bullet cup and it should “melt”.

You need the right tools for this job to make life easy.
