My Granite 3s arrived yesterday, and took her all apart from A-Z. I believe I have the drive train all figured out. Tires though.... hmmmm.... not fond on the stock tires/wheels combo. Thinking of going with Duratrax 14mm Six Packs. But then I read about fellas running Badlands, but they require 17mm adapters.

What are the pros and cons of converting to either the 12mm or 17mm setup?

Pros of the hex swap to 12mm is more tire choices for 2.2 and 2.8 mt tires, plus SCT tires. But, big power will strip 12mm hexes.

Pro for 17mm, bomb proof hex - will not strip. Can use 1/8 buggy wheels. Cons, not much 2.8 tire choice.

14mm. Pros - strong enough. Better tire choice than 17.. for 2.8, but not as much as 12mm. Cons, not as many tire choices as 12mm.

Duratrax tire are good, and now that that offer a dozen or so 14mm options, and bare 14mm 2.8 rims, I don't see a reason swap hexes, unless you already have a bunch of 12mm or 17mm tires.

Thanks for taking the time to explain Jerry ??
