Protoform GTR and me trying to create a custom color using Tamiya’s polycarbonate (lexan) paint.

1/2 a can of the Iridescent purple/green. However, I wish I would’ve done the entire can.

Then I laid down a few layers till I used the entire can of Anodized Champagne Gold

Usually with the gold and iridescent you wanna lay down a dark color to make those colors come through. However, I wanted something subtle, so I opted for Corsa Grey

I then cut out the protective film on the outside to paint the plastic trim. The paint will show kinda flat on the outside giving it that appearance of plastic.

Some decals on and with some outdoor lighting.
The iridescent comes through very mildly (which is why I wished I did a few more layers) but in all came out nice, like a factory Pearl.

Dang man! That's nice! 😁 I love how the windows turned out! Looks like an actual 1:1 tint job!!! Well done and I like how you laid out your presentation. Makes me feel more comfortable diving into painting a shell. (y) Appreciate ya' ✌️

There’s tons of posts you can look through for painting your shell.

Only advice is take time prepping such as washing the inside body, making sure all your taped edges are pressed down and spraying your first couple of coats light and even (this gives a good bond for the remaining medium, light coats)

I usually hit it with the heat gun lightly and let it air dry for 10mins between each coat.

Yeah, I'm anal and do a lot of research when I'm getting into things, so I'm sure I'll find all I need to know. Just hate the prep work! 😂

Great advice! Appreciate it! One day I'll get to it. (y)✌️😁
