Arrma RC's
  1. BigRock 4x4
  2. Granite
  3. Senton 6s
  4. Typhon 3s
Hello All,

I need some help, my (11y/o) son got a Senton 3s in the fall and enjoys it and now has talked me into a car to run with him. I want to stay in the 3s platform so our cars are similar. The problem is i can not decide which would be better a typhon 3s or big rock 3s.
Any and all advice is welcome on this topic
Thank You

How do you drive and what type of terrain.
I personally love my Typhons.
Especially in 3s.

The typhon is a bit limited becsuse of the ride hight a buggy is made to handle extremly well don't get me front your going to be able to do a backflip a few times. The big rock crew crab is a monster truck like the granite but with a longer wheel base better stability and hable to bash better than the typhon if you want to do grazy stuns. And theres the kraton 4s who is almost the same platform than the big rock but just a bit differant
If you trying to find something similar to the senton 3s the typhon 3s

We will be doing all sorts of driving some street but mostly off road we camp and will bring them with us to tackle whatever terrain we can find.
I do wanna stay in the 3s category so my car would not out perform his, just looking for something different than his but similar if that makes sense.
Thank you for input.
I was leaning towards typhon thinking performance would be similar. Is one more stable than the other?

The Typhon is very stable. I think you would be pleased with the performance and stability.
Let us know what you decide.

As others said, decision depends on the surface. I own the Senton and I'm pretty happy with it. Typhon is too low for the areas I use my cars. I don't want to make flips and stuff like that so I prefer the long wheelbase. Maybe I would have bought the Big Rock, but compared to the other Arrma bodies the BRCC looks a bit boring imho, so I grabbed the Senton.
You should decide for what areas you want to use it and how you want to ride it.

I think that out of the two, you'd probably enjoy both. I don't have the 3s Typhon but I do love my Big Rock Crew Cab. They're both quite stable, dependable and versatile. I feel changing the tires on the BRCC is a standard improvement because the stock set look better than they perform.

Could you elaborate on that please. Do you mean upgrades or running it on different terrain ?
I’m not a specialist in the typhon, but from what I’ve seen people do on here shows me that’s it’s a very versatile platform. You can lower it, widen it, make is a speed Basher and even truggify it (I think that means turn it into a cross between a buggy and a truck). Maybe some of the other members here will chime in with what they’ve done with theirs.

I have truggied some, left some stock and just swapped wheels and tires for the terrain I want to play in.
It is a very stable and smooth platform.
I don't jump and flip I just bash.

The typhon 3s for the track and the Senton 3s (LWB chassis) with Granite tires for bashing.
This combo (son-father), from our experiences, is hard to beat for the price + mods/track capacity.
Welcome here Coss

They are honestly very similar choices. The BRCC has a monster truck look and wider tires. The Typhon has wider arms and will be more stable in corners. If you want something that is closer to the Senton in performance, my choice would be the Typhon. If you want one that looks more like his, then the BRCC.

Either way, it’s gonna be fun. ????

Thank you all this is a helpful discussion for me trying to figure out the differences.

I'd recommend the Typhon over the BR in your situation.

They're all variations of the same truck aren't they? Any one them can be transformed into another with a combination of arms, wheels, chassis, body and pinion. It's one of the reasons Arrma are so appealing, you can swap bits about depending on what you plan to do.

Big Rock or Kraton 4S? Thinking of one of these.

Kraton 4s, more stable, jumps better, flies better. It's wider and wont traction roll like the BR and has better tires OTB.

Does anyone know if you can swap bodies out on a typhon? I can not find any aftermarket custom bodies ie; changing the body to a truck or jeep style. Or is a buggy strictly a buggy
