Hey Brother

Using Pure Lye get it locally anywhere. It just so much faster to add water to a bucket and some of this. Mask and timing is key...smell can be strong and too long can eat the metal.

Last I use metal paste and Mothers a dereml buff it to a shine. On this project, not going for shiny as with other project. So not doing the paste or buffing. Just the lye and a little Mothers for a rough rag polish and done for this rig.

Nice.
Flitz is the Shitz. (y) What I use with Mothers.

I was on grandpa duty, so did not get too much done on this project over the weekend. I did manage to make a few strides.

Center diff housing in place

HW Max6 added the temp probe. I do it on all my bashers it is not exact, so I mentally add 10deg more but so much easier to drive it to me for a quick read than to take the body off. I have good fans so the readings are under 170F or well below. Metal putty holds the temp probe in place

Also, add one to the motor using thermal tape that has been sold to hold on all my bashers

ESC & motor fans. The motor has a smooth body, and this mount used on the Fireteam also holds like a champ.

@RCbuzz thx for the pic for the ESC. I will find out at some point if the motor fan is too tall for the body...

Example of my TLR how temp probes look when all done for the ESC & motor readings...just make little window\opening in the body for my visual

I like lights on my basher and on the frame...not on the body. Bashing in the evening and\or dust their super helpful to know the direction I am pointing, which is my goal. Amber lights on the front or white.... 🤷‍♂️ Use a little E6000 to keep them in place have never lost a one

The rear light will sit on top of the diff. Super bright pic does not show it well.

I have been on work travel so back on the Talion this week...

My question to group...how in the heck do you bend the rear input gear 10T AND the input shaft cup?

Before I left, I noticed the rear input cup had a 1-2mm wobble when I spun it....was like what the heck because the front was perfect. Personally, I have never bent those parts before. With a frustrated look, I ordered the input shaft cup. I got it one day before I flew out. Put it on, WTF it still wobbles when spun. So I ordered the main input gear.

Input Gear $17 + tax s/h
Input shaft cup $23 + tax s/h

Already have spent more than I like so was not happy about those Amain orders

Installed them both and now it spins true and no wobble. I like a project but I am exhausted with the new finds around each corner,

The old input and cup are removed and on the papertowel

Something ate the heck out of these so bought some more but they were cheap compared to the other two

@Camaroboy383 IKR!

Need to call it a short day grandpa duty calls...

The rear is fully assembled and not mounted to the chassis:
Murat-RC rear lights
3D-RC wing
Mudguards since I was told it's a good idea :)

The front is assembled and needs to fix it to the chassis. Soldered some lights and affixed them in

Did not get very far....at least I 90% back on the chassis. I need to focus on the electrics this week and light wiring

AJ Jams idea on the RPM front bumper on the rear of the Talion for some protection. Not sure if this will work but at least I get a skid plate out of it

Front assembly back on
1668476557625.png

I had to replace the 15T pinion it was beat to s%#^ the spur was OK...not a true spur spin but the slight wobble in it is small... Go figure!

Rear with the RPM bumper. I will not have a wheelie bar on this use the RPM bumper for that

The same day I bought this RC off the forum, I also purchased an eBay body. However, I did not know until I pm'd @jkflow they do not last. I ordered a bulldog hard body but it is coming from overseas (EU) so will be a while before I get it. This is a temp body and will use as a shelf queen.

Added all the electronics, and calibrated the ESC, EPs, etc., so she is ready to run....but needs to find time to run her :)

Here are some of the semi-final project pics until the actual body comes that I want:

Finally, this Bulldog body from Europe arrived about a week or so ago...

I'm not very creative so I will just add some decals and make it my basher body. I have been happy with the armor bodies and keep the stock as shelf queens.

Any tips on what sandpaper I need to smooth the cut edges around the body?

Start, more to come... Only cut the body, post holes, and test fit

Looking good man..😎 almost ready for some bashing.. start with something rough, like 80 grit to get your well's shaped in, should only take a couple minutes... Then grab some 220 and smooth them in.. you can progress further into the 400 range if you wish..

If you have a Dremel, those sanding drums are handy as heck for this sort of job.. it will make quick work of it... Just keep Dremel speeds slow, pressure light, and keep moving to prevent heat build..

Merry Christmas parco, hope you and the family have a great one my friend.. 🙏

Very helpful post.... thx Brother Merry Xmas to you as well my Man!!!

Finally, bringing this project to a close...

Nothing special about this body to close it out, and I copied the look from another site. The goal here for this used Talion I bought here is to fix all the damage and get a basher body so the stock body will look good when it is on the shelf!

Thanks to everyone for the input and suggestions. Like many that have the new FT I got this in Nov, so I am waiting now for my first bash with it... Also look forward to bashing my FT although it's not new, LOL.

Happy New Year!

Sorry for the night pics just finished...daylight would be far better.

That body looks great! 😍

Really nice job on the whole rebuild. Also digging the integrated bumper lights in the front.

This is fantastic! I want a new body for my Talion but have always been afraid to ruin it when shaping the wheel wells. Stopped me from getting an unbreakable body off eBay. Yours is so sick? I may just watch some YouTube videos and go for it. That mat black is so dope. Plus the build is inspiring. I’m not there yet. But I’m starting to wrench an it’s very therapeutic. Thanks for the journey!

SrC posted to another user a site for stickers and when I looked, they also made custom shock covers. Never had them before not sure how long they will last. One of those last-minute looking for something to do adds... 🤷‍♂️ No sure what to expect with these...
