It went great! Thanks to many months advice on here, YT and… the bread trick which impressed my kid. She was as amazed as I was!!
I used the black part of an MIP hex to push out the main bearing and a socket with the same diameter as the bearing to press a new Jim’s bearing in. One thing I appreciate about my obsession with buying parts and tools is when I need one it’s there, often two of them. Its great really.
Motor wasn’t bad at all and a good rinsing (CNC elec contact cleaner) took care of the dust. The main bearing was rough but I already knew that based on the motors performance lagging. I’m thinking makes the hassle of running a dust cover and pulling the motor module out often to clean worth it. I think that sealing the greased o-ring and washer under pinion really helps keep dust from the front bearing. This motor made it nine months in pretty dusty conditions. Its my favorite car also so gets a lot of run time.
