Limitless Rlaarlo Ak917 and 787 projects

Hey, you get creative when you want to run your car and none of your spur gears fit. At first it was just for a quick test run with the intention of replacing with steel.

Buuuuut it’s still perfect after a dozen runs. So I’m tempted to keep going and see if/when it ever fails.

Sounds like you’re having the same issue with mod 1 gears fitting the space for a spur. PM me and I’ll send you a spur gear. Any tooth count. Join the revolution!
is that offer good for me too

Sure.

Apologies @vwturbowolf. I didn’t intend to derail the thread.
All good brother.
Hoping to get the two 787 builds out today for a couple passes, my tp motor dual build is gonna run 100% throttle on 3s and the RTR model will be running 4s for the first time, looking forward to what they do.

The RTR car I still haven’t gotten the gyro to work properly after multiple times trying to get it set right. I had really planned to leave this car with the stock remote and use the gyro so I could help others approach it the same way, but I may end up pulling the gyro from the car and changing it to my futaba remote that I can dial the steering in better.

Sounds like some fast numbers headed our way 👍

We will see, the body and wing I have a feeling are going to give me issues above 130mph,
I ended up moving the rtr 787 to my futaba remote this morning. So I will feel a lot more comfortable dialing it in at the higher speeds.
Using a tiny dial to adjust steering trim is definitely not the best option on the stock remote

Just have to figure out how to set these rlaarlo esc’s throttle positions

Swapped out the front headlights for a led light that I can see better now that this rtr has 150mph potential, car is setup on my futaba remote so I don’t need to worry about range issues, but I was not able to calibrate the esc’s tomorrow I’ll run 3s first to see if it reaches a similar number to my previous pass then we will go 4s

Made some solid passes this morning. A lot of leaves on the road made it tough to make the passes.
The RTR car did great for its furst 4s pass

And my custom dual with the tp motors was right behind it on 3s although I had to let off because the car wasn’t stable

Is the RTR one running Rlaarlo foams or BSR's?
Rlaarlo foams as well. They asked to find their max speed

The rtr car did great.
I am working with their engineering department now for the esc’s because I noticed with the factory remote the car would sometimes cog, or even go in reverse during throttle at the start,
Moving it to my futaba remote it still does the same thing. And unfortunately all my attempts to enter a setup mode for the esc’s have been unsuccessful. They are working on a programming card for the esc’s but I need to get access to the throttle neutral and reverse position calibration
. At least they are actively trying to fix any issues

Rlaarlo sent me an extra 120a esc and motor F3670-BT 2200kv when I purchased my AK917 last spring, I tried using them for a bit right after the speed run competition, but if I geared it up at all, the only thing it would do was cog cog cog! I had to push start it just to make a run and if I didn't keep it moving at a somewhat fast pace on the turn around I would have to make the walk of shame! The thing got on my nerves the first time out so needless to say, I ended up pulling it and going back to my Castle esc!
Great progress and work man, you have them things moving right along!(y) Cant wait to see how much more you get out of them.

Yup it’s their start power programming. I can help them sort it out and they can even offer updates for it once they finish a few other things. The esc’s have good potential but they weren’t testing like some of us are pushing them.

On these dual motor cars I have had to ramp the start up to 10% on my remote, it basically jump starts the motors real quick

That build looks fantastic. How are you making out on those new foams you were testing? That’s a whole lot of car for those little 1/10 foams!
The tires will be a limiting factor but I am hoping that some things come thru with new tires for next year.

Here’s the 3s Tp motor dual 787,
I let out early due to the broken wing mounts causing the car to sway back and forth on the top end.

Update on the super stretch, got the two bodies and promptly cut them both in half after some measurements and It will be very rigid once bolted together and I was able to keep the same rear kickup angle on the body. So it should act very similar to the 917 bodies I’ve already run with.

I have to figure out a paint scheme for this build so I’m going to look at some more vintage Porsche race cars and maybe do something similar
