Arrma RC's
  1. Senton 6s
Hello everyone. I just purchased my new Senton 3s 1/10 scale short track truck. This is the best thing sense sliced bread. I've been in RC hobby my whole life. By doing so, I've learned to build and modify many things like planes with a hood scoop, ejection seats, a 16 ft catapult and more so, mods are a fun thing for me. The Stenton is no difference. When I purchased my truck, I planned on shredding it in the mud, or should i say Bashing it. I wanted a truck easy to clean, easy to repair, and have mods out the yaing. Here is my new Senton truck with the mods i made so far. The tires are from Duratrax, I made a body lift so i didn't have to cut the body, i made a mud gard under the body so not to get the electronics filled with mud and debris. also, I had a major issue with rocks getting in the stearing arms and binding up my servo not able to steer my truck at 45 mph (with this set-up clocked with radar. This mod does great. dirt still gets inside but about 90% less. I live in Monroe, North Carolina. Yes the motor will get hot but adding a fan to the motor should fix the issue. I have not replaced my shocks YET but working on it. No it doesn't rubb.

Tires: Duratrax sixpack mt ct part number DTXC3523, 2.8 IN TRUCK MOUNTED 0.5 OFF SET CHROME 2WD (YES 2 wheel drive, yes 12mm hub needs to be changed from 14mm to 12mm.)
Hub adapter: 12mm aluminum wheel Part number DTXC3596. The package says for a Granite 4x4 but will fit PROPERLY on the Senton.
Pinion gear: YOU MUST PUT A SMALLER PINION GEAR TO MOD THE LARGER TIRES. 13t on my Senton I only have a 13, 15, (20T stock), and a 26T position. I put a 13T because that is what the Anderson Hobby Shop had. (P.S. Anderson R/C in Thomasville, North Carolina is one of the 2 best hobby shops I have ever been at in 50 years of my R/C experience.)

The mud gards are made from (For Sale Signs) these are corrigated plastic and garrilla tape. Water proof. Please enjoy and send mod pics.

Here are more pics.
Having the body that high, does it make it traction roll more?
Hey, no more than usual. I run this on my club track on 3s and it might look top heavy but it doesen't show it.

I forgot to add, having the truck with these bigger tires makes the truck more controllable at higher speeds. It is still a hand full with the 3s. Also, i'm adding a motor fan to cool the motor more.

I purchased a clear body to paint in my colors BUT, it gave me a different look at my mod of my debris deflection system. I can see exactly where the system covers the inside of the truck. Also, I wonder if anyone tried to incorporate the front spoiler to help keep the front down in high speed? Hummm.

Hello all you mod people like me. I'm going to put all my mods here for my senton trucks 3s BLX verson. Also if something works or not, i'll post as well. I purchased 4 new tires for my truck because i blew the side wall out of the DTXC3523 tires, found out these are on BACK ORDER so i purchased new tires. ( DTXC5258 ) with 14mm hubs see picture. These tires are 100% AWESOME HANDS DOWN. I put back on my truck the 14mm hubs ( original hubs with the Senton ) and ran the heck out of it today. I never saw so much dirt, sand, dust, and gravel flying around. On of the guys asked if he was going to watch me run my truck on our new track? He said, he would love to but he couldn't see due to the dust flying. THE TRUTH. I put the old tires next to the new one. The dirty one is the old one. The tread pattern is great. (See picture). Also i'm using a low voltage alarm. It helps me so i don't damage my lipo. The debris deflection system i made has worked out beautifully. Only dust gets into the inter body of my truck. Rocks, grass, sticks, mud ect...are the thing of the past. I have ran this truck hard almost every day and i have not changed out the steering servo as of yet. I think because of my debris deflection system. It is very easy to make. It can fit ANY application. Made out of a plastic for sale sign and duct tape. Best thing i've done to the beast yet. Well, have a great day. Stay safe. If this post is up is because i've done something

@Senton Monster Truck looks great man! I have a set of MT tires on the way for my Senton (if it ever gets here...waiting for it to ship out!!), so I was just wondering what size tubing you used for the body mount extensions...I'd measure it up myself but like I said, I don't actually have the truck or my parts yet and I want to be ready for when it arrives. Thanks in advance!

And thanks for posting all the great pics of your mods as well! This has been a very I formative thread for me! Keep it coming ?

I do have a question about the upgrade in my senton I bought a brushed and went to the blx brushless motor and the upgraded ESC and ran it one time on 3s and the input gear in the stock diff on the senton mega blew out. Cracked in half.I am running my granite tires so do I need to upgrade the whole diff? Or just replace it with a 13T pinion and be okay? Cause I’m looking to upgrade the drivetrain to not as much plastic lol but parts are hard to find. I live nearAnderson RC but haven’t been there yet due to this virus but I’ve been going to hobbytown USA in Mooresville and the customer service is poop. Sold me 2 wrong parts to fix it after I just bought the truck 2 days ago and bought a granite and a typhoon a week ago..

Well, I'm new at this as well but from what I've learned on here in the last week or so, if you are going to run monster truck tires you need to change your pinion gear from the stock 20T to a 13T or 15T for sure. Someone else can weigh in on whether you need to replace the whole diff, but I have to imagine there are metal parts you could source for the diff internals to take the extra power. I would also think that the 3S BLX parts would be compatible with the Mega model but again I cant say for sure without doing further research. I'm sure someone else will weigh in here...the folks on this forum are plenty helpful ?

You have to use the 13t input gears with the 37t BLX diffs. The 17t HD input gear (AR310773) is the one you want to replace the stock plastic shaft ones in the Mega with the Mega diffs https://www.ebay.com/itm/ARRMA-Heav...584149&hash=item4427c17cd9:g:w4sAAOSwefxbmV7o. The BLX 37t diff and 13t input gears would be best. All still plastic (internals of the diffs are the same they're metal) but the BLX gears have bigger teeth.

Hey, this is what i did. I went to lowes and bought 1 dowel and 1 plastic water tubing. The pictures show the parts and sizes and the diagram shows how to put it together. To get the right sizes you will need to measure how high you want your body off your truck. Mine i cut the plastic water tube at 2 inches. Sometimes my body rubs the tires but not much. I might cut the tube at 2 1/2 inch. If you plan on running in dirt, rocks, mud, ect... You will want to make some type of debris deflection system like i did. I used the for sale sign and gorilla duct tape. It don't look pretty but it works and it is hidden. Also, get yourself a motor fan for cooling. For $12.00 your mind will be at ease. I live in monroe NC.

Thanks. All good advice. I'll get my dowel, water tube, for sale signs, and gorilla tape order up from my local hardware store here in Ontario, Canada ?? I'll also get a fan ordered up...like you said, it's worth the piece of mind for the money. Thanks for taking the time to explain and including the pics! Really appreciate it!

Is that thing top heavy now? A Dusty Motors cover or a pair of pantyhose could have saved you some time and weight. ??‍♂️??

Your welcome. I'm an airplane guy. My club has started a car track so i got a Senton truck. This is very simple to work on. 7 screws and all the electronics comes out so i can spray water on the frame to clean. Keep it simple and stupid ( KISS system works for me ).

Hey, that sounds like a cool idea. If i had thought of it i would has tried that first. Oh well, I wanted to make fenders inside the body like a real truck has so that was how i started out but it ended up like what you see. My track has a bunch of rocks and dust that gets into the steering system wich interfears with the steering. With all the mods i've done the truck does 45mph and the rocks don't get in. Someone posted a cool solution to the rocks getting in through the holes in the frame and you still you have perfect steering. They used foam. It is flexible and still covers the holes. I'm going to put that on the mod as well. Weight so far has not been any issue. The coragated plastic ( for sale sign ) and duct tape doesn't add much weight and is waterproof but, on a scale perspective it might, but it looks cool, the underside is in black wich adds to the color of the truck and works very well. The truck still flips over due to my inexperence as a rc car guy but it ends up on it's wheels most of the time. (Sorry for spelling ). I found this waterproof grease at harbor freight. (See picture).
Hm. Good point...hadn't thought of that. I do like the mod to raise the body tho. don't wanna have to cut mine...
It's not heavy it just looks like it. It's made out of corrigated plastic (for sale signs) and duct tape. It comes off real easy and works great keeping rocks and debris out from my Senton. My truck still does 45mph.

Yeah I love my Senton. Great little truck...and yes, so easy to work on. I have had mine for a little over a week now and with all the upgrade parts I keep buying, I have torn it down a half dozen times already. Getting pretty good at it. And for me the time spent wrenching on it is just as fun as driving it (used to be a mechanic). I've always found r/c planes fascinating (my neighbor had a garage full of them growing up) but have never owned one personally. Perhaps someday. I think, knowing me and the way I drive, I'm afraid I would spend all the time building a plane and crash the darn thing and destroy it.
