List of shims that will work on the Arrma differential.

Shims that work for the Arrma Diff

Part #:

The fb page automatically select pictures for the page? One of the pictures of the shimms made it on there lol

Great info Trapper & all on 1 page. This should help many Arrma fans when shimming diffs.

I'm sure it can vary, but has anyone noticed if the new V3 Arrma diff's need shimming as much as the V1's or V2's?

Also, are the Mugen (MUGE0206) 3.5x12 shims "only" .02mm thick? The specs must be a misprint? At .02mm, you would not even need a shim? All other diff shims are .1, .12, .15, .2 & .3mm thick? If Mugen's are only .02mm thick, this is paper thin & wouldn't shims self destruct with speed of diff gears? Also no other washers would be thin enough to be able to shim the Arrma planetary gears?

The Team Associated (ASC81343) diff shims look interesting. What size are these ? Looks like the same size shims, but 2 different thickness, maybe?

Be careful, this thread can be too confusing, bogus and nonsense to some... Ouch!
No kidding. Here are some shim specs that were not provided or incorrectly shown by the manufacturer. Hope this does not confuse any members even more LOL:

MUGE0206. The 3.5x12 shims are shown as 0.02mm. These are actually .2mm thick, not 0.02mm. These hard to find 5x18 shims may not be needed to shim the new V3 diffs, as I found the V3 diffs too tight with even just one installed. Since it is much easier to find the 3.5x12 shims (SER110413, ASC81381, ASC89108, AR709024), this Mugen shim kit may not be as important now.

Another option I found instead of adding 1 or 2 more 3.5x12x.2mm shims, is to change all (4) of the 3.5x12x.15mm Arrma shims to (4) .2mm shims. This seemed to work well when I tried a bunch of dry fits, as diff was still smooth after this. This is real fine tuning, as the new V3 diffs seem ok & may not even need shimming.

Team Associated shim specs (not provided by manufacturer):

ASC89108:
(4) outdrive shims (13.5x15.8x.3mm)
(12) sun gear washers (6.1x11x.15)-maybe could also use to shim steering bellcrank or use on top pillow balls to adjust camber?
(24) planet gear washers (3.6x12x.2mm)

Note: The Arrma outdrive shim in my rear diff was bent (I believe it is .2mm thick). Due to this, instead of adding another .15 shim (to the crown gear side which heavier truggies usually like), I replaced it with a 13.5x15.8x.3mm shim (from ASC89108). Diff was still smooth after adding this thicker shim, which I believe should also last longer.

ASC81381:
(8) 3.5x12x.12mm
(8) 6x8x.20mm
(8)13.5x15.8x.20mm
(8) 13.5x15.8x.10mm

TKR5145B: Shims are 6x17x.3mm thick

I got a quick question and I don't think it really needs its own thread.

I got done filling the center diff and was wondering if I have to shim this piece. There was no shim in there before but it seems to fit. Just not sure if I should or not

I have ordered the Mugen 0206 set for my 18 typhon. Is the 13x16x.15 shims the only other shim I need to order???
Yes. The mugen kit has enough for 3 diffs worth of spider gear x pins and both sun gears. You need the 13x16 shims for the front/rear diffs yet for the ring/pinion mesh.
