Hi guys,

Just had a question regarding the shock oil in the factory nero.
The specs state 3000 for the shocks, does this mean 30 at or 3000cst?

I'm new to rc hobby. I've always wanted one and I made a big jump and bought the nero. I bought the bangood cheapo short course truck last year for the taste of rc cars and I'm pumped to get the nero.

Anyways I'm looking to get some shock oils and wanted to find out more about what you guys recommend for the cat ratings for the nero.

Cheers

Thanks for the response woodie.
I understand that running with too high of CST of shock oil can damage other parts of the rc ie the shock cap ends or the ball joints ( the part that I heard was a weak point in the Nero).
I went ahead and ordered 30wt (350 cst) and 60wt (800 cst) so I can mix the two oils to get a range between 30 and 60wt.

Thanks again.

@Andynero many suggest 50-60wt shock oil. The Team Losi shock oil pack would work fine for you.

I think I may have made a mistake in ordering the two wts (30&60wt) I just saw that on the arrma Nero product page nero comes with 1000cst shock oil. :( Meaning my order of 350 & 800 would be more "watery" right?

It's alot of new information to try to absorb getting into this hobby!

@Andynero that would be correct, a 30wt shock oil is going to be much thinner than 1000cst. Here is a wt to cst conversion chart for your info.

WT to CST Oil Conversion Chart

10wt = 100cst
15wt = 150cst
20wt = 200cst
25wt = 275cst
30wt = 350cst
35wt = 425cst
40wt = 500cst
45wt = 575cst
50wt = 650cst
55wt = 725cst
60wt = 800cst
70wt = 900cst
80wt = 1000cst

Thanks for the info woodie.
So the nero comes 1000 cst shock oil / 80wt from factory. So this is already a 80wt oil (thick / lots of dampening). Wow so there are people who put in thicker oil than this?! So is 1000cst not really appropriate for the nero?

Thanks for the info

I was wondering the same thing. So I bought 90wt. I wanted 100wt but they only had 90wt at my local hobby store (hobby people).

I find 50 weight to be too light on my nero, did any of you change anything else besides change the shock oil weight?

I think if u happen to run a thinner oil like 50k wt. u could change the piston as i got 3 different pistons with the nero so maybe u cud try a piston with fewer holes...its only a suggestion as im facing this dilemma now and am about to do wat i jst mentioned coz its in the A.M. here in Australia and i want to cause mayhem with a fully charged ready to go nero cant wait for rc hobby store to open all i have is 30k, 50k traxxas diff fluid so...
