Hi folks, I'm in the process of cutting my Senton body to fit Granite wheels and tyres and have seen various people's chops on here for fitting these wheels and similar, but thought it would be good to have a thread with them all in one place, plus see any other pics that I may not have already see . So show me your pics!

Also, it will be interesting to see how much of a cut is necessary. Mounting the body on my truck and compressing the suspension makes it seem like quite a big cut is needed, including the majority of the headlights, but I've seen people not cut the headlights at all... So either a little rubbing isn't an issue, or full suspension compression is quite rare in practice?

Thanks!

P.S. FWIW, I've added some pics below of where I'm at so far. It looks rough at the moment (and only partly cut on one side) because I'm waiting for some lexan scissors to come via Amazon Prime tomorrow, and the rough bits need a going over with the Dremel to tidy them up. What I've done so far was done with aviation snips, which were far too bulky really. Fine for straight bits, but impossible for bends and corners. The tyres still touch behind the rear wheel and below the headlights.

Pics also show how much bigger the Granite tyres are Vs the Senton ones. I just fitted two for comparison.

2.8 Rustler tires on my son's...love the performance and the way it came out. Here's a recent vid from this week so much fun Happy Rcing Team Orange ?
Looks good. Doesn't look like you have much of a cut at all. Full headlights.

Has anyone tried removing the stickers on the Arrma bodies to move them?

I'm guessing they'd lose their adhesive and not stick down again very well...

These 2.8 are the smallest lightest I could get to allow for less body trimming and no esc heat issues plus great performance...love the set up such a fun truck Team Orange kicks ass !

You'll get a much better edge with a Dremel if you're interested in a cleaner look.

Yeah - I presume I just use a sanding drum, right? On the lowest speed?

Did you use normal scissors or curved lexan hobby scissors? I have really good results with lexan curved hobby scissors and fine out any imperfections with precision files from harbor freight.

I used aviation snips. Way too chunky and the curved ones seemed to splinter the plastic. I've ordered some curved lexan scissors which should be arriving tomorrow. Hopefully they will be better and I can tidy any remaining imperfections out with the Dremel.

My cuts seem quite drastic, but the bottom corner of the headlight still touches the tyre under full compression, as does the back edge of the rear bumper. I also need to raise up the centres of the wheel arches both front and rear. Not sure I'll raise the front too much more as I doubt I'll hit full compression very often, but the rear still needs a lot taken out.

Did 2 packs back to back this week on a lunch break on tape and when I went back and looked at the tape I heard two spots I think that rubbed. I know we could still take it down a little more but it looks sweet and handles so good...it's fun (y)

Here is my hack job, added a piece of tin bolted to hood and windshield and taped in, also used Velcro on side rail to hold body has held up well.

What did you use to cut yours? That's an aggressive cut for sure! Probably stops so much crap getting under the body though.

I think I want a bit more arch left when I'm done though and a bit of headlight left. But good to see both ends of the aggressiveness spectrum!

I some curved and straight hobby scissors i got 30 years ago, they don't get used much.
I also have a proline monster fusion body and it gets so packed with mud and snow. this cut helps keep some stuff out.
It does remind me of some of the cuts available in the PS4 game "Wreckfest" that you can apply to your Destruction Derby cars. Very Mad Max looking.

The Velcro is a must to add support, I added it after these pics, otherwise there is not much keeping it from flexing. I also have an untouched body for when I want to go back to stock wheels so I didn't care if I ruined this one. I actually run this one more than the monster fusion body because it just sails if there is any wind.

I also have a stock body for the regular wheels (albeit in blue), but still don't want to ruin this one if I can help it!

Well my lexan scissors arrived last week so I attacked the body with them last night. Way better than the aviation snips and got a much better result much more easily.

Here's the result so far. (I still need to give it a going over with the Dremel to smooth things out, but TBH it's good enough to leave it as it is.)

I actually did a bit of trimming on my Senton body last night. I read on the forum that I could lower the body posts, and the tires would not rub. Well, that proved not to be true, especially when the tires balloon, and the body is flapping in the breeze. Quick test run revealed no more rubbing. I used straight scissors where I could, and a Dremel with a cutoff disk for the curves.

Looks great RJUK ! How was the t-bone front and back bumper install ? Happy with them ?
Yeah, the install is easy enough and the bumpers seem good. I've still not run the truck yet (hence why it's so clean and still allowed on the carpet!), so I've not really tested them out properly. I think the truck looks amazing with the big tyres and bumpers though.

Edit: Oh and the reason for cutting my headlights was because under full suspension compression they were what hit the tyres first, especially with the wheels turned.

With the cuts as they are I can compress the suspension until the chassis touches the floor and it only just barely starts lightly rubbing. The only way for it not to rub at all would be to pretty much cut the whole headlight and top of the wheelarch away.

I think what I've done ought to be enough.

Not sure how much the tires will rub under 3s power, should be good under 2s, my proline tires got huge until I got some orings that help control it. I prefer the senton body and will keep one stock, I now have all 4 3s blx's. converted my main rig to this, just finished last night. Still have 1 unopened Senton in a box . Between my 2 kids and me it's nice to have a spare, for the wife of course:)

Do you have a link to those rings?

Do the Senton tyres and Granite tyres balloon much? I'm hoping the cuts I have are drastic enough. Time will tell, I guess.
