I already have a DX5C Tx. Will I be able to have telemetry informations from a Smart battery on my radio if I don't have a Spektrum Smart ESC? I have the stock Kraton V4 ESC and motor.

It sounds like a neat feature.

Thanks!

Yes, the ESC is what transfers the data.

With Firma Smart ESCs, you'll be better connected to your vehicle than ever before — without installing extra components that all work independently of each other. You won't need extra wires, modules, or links. A Firma electronic speed control provides a one-wire solution for obtaining telemetry data such as RPM, temperature, battery voltage and capacity.

Firma ESCs not only gather the data but also send it to your transmitter in real time, instead of only storing it for after-run study. You're able to adjust settings as needed to boost performance on the go.

I find it odd on their own site they can't seem to get the naming consistent. (is it SMART or Smart?)

Haha funny, looks like when they released the 6s versions recently they forgot the trend they were going with ??‍♂️

Thanks a lot!

I think I may purchase Smart batteries anyways, just to be future-proof. I think this telemetry stuff is pretty cool.

Thanks again!
Definitely cool. I just ordered a ? ton of spektrum batteries and chargers. For our new infractions (who knows when they come ?) and my limitless which now has the k8s electronics in it... I like that these fit perfect in all the arrma cars (seeing as how they are made for em right ;)

Now I need a program card.. and maybe a dx5 ???

I picked up a four 3s 5000mah SMART batteries and the smart charger. I thought it was supposed to auto-detect the current, but both C ratings I had (50C and 100C) said 12A upon first plug-in. I've since changed it to 5A to be safe. Do you all think 12A the correct "auto-detect" setting for these batteries?

As for smart ESC, I'm holding off. I couldn't justify the cost compared to other options on the market.

That's a great question nobody seems to be able to/want to answer 🤣
I just got the smart pack with batteries n charger.....I trusted the "auto" and have been charging them @12a and discharging @1 Amp like it suggests. 5 cycles thus far and no issues - yet.
It sure is fantastic charging 2 5000mah 3s packs in under 30 mins.....but.....is it OK?

Sounds like it’s their idea of a one size fits most. I guess on the bright side, the battery will only fail once… And now that I said that I will probably be the one coming back to let you guys know I blew up my 4S G2s lol. Karma, please be nice.

Haha! Let's hope not! If you manage to blow up a G2, then my G1's are finished! 🤪🤣

I don’t know if I would be more concerned about the battery blowing up or my wife trying to kill me as I run out of the house to buy more. So far karrma has been on my side
