I'm building a new limitless. My pinion and spur have a really bad tight spot when trying to set the mesh. The only thing that I can think is causing it is that I'm using a perfect pass ultimate driveshaft kit that replace the spool shaft with one that doesn't have a hole for the pin for the spur gear. The spur gear has 2 set screws instead.
Does anyone have any advice please ?

The spool should be fine if assembled properly. How bad is the tight spot, can you not just back off the mesh enough to clear but still have a good engagement all around? Pics or videos might help!

Also check everything else eg. Mount, mount plate, screws, etc. motor shaft not bent? Pinion 100% ok? Etc.

A bent shaft, motor or spur, can cause it. Motor not sitting flush with its mount, bent motor mount, debris in the gear or mesh too tight can all cause a tight spot.
Spurs are often not perfectly round but close enough with a correctly set mesh.
