So again did some bashing this AM and twords end of run started to hear the infamous clicking. I was sending her pretty good this time(20-30ft long about 10ft high) but was making sure to land nice and flat and also not on the throttle upon landing. Haven't pulled everything apart yet as I have to head to work soon but almost certain again it's diff issues. Only other possibility would be again pinion came loose but not sure if that would give the clicking noise? Just wondering if I can save some money and time instead of rebuilding stock diffs constantly and replacing parts is there a better option like HR diffs or another aftermarket brand that will hold up better? Thanks for any input and taking the time to respond!

Only diffs that will work are the EXB diffs, everyone else's diffs are too big and don't fit in the gearbox.

The V4 diffs need lots of TLC to be considered bulletproof, but very doable. Search the forum for mods we’ve done.. lots of info for the taking.

Omg what a nightmare. I rebuilt exb diff 3 times using shims for the sungears as well. One run kills them. I just bought v4 diff because I thought it was the answer . If this diff breaks, the only direction I want to launch the exb now is in a dumpster . This thing is becoming a money pit.

Yea right into arrma's money pit. Like really no top engineer from arrma cant design a bullet proof diff? Or are they not trying

What size shims are you using. If they aren’t 12x18mm then you aren’t supporting the sun gear. If they are the stock shims, they support the pin.

I used 13x16x0.2mm shims as per YouTube video I saw. Looks like similar diamater as sungears, but not aperfect fit as above. I used 8 on each sungear. I couldnt find anything else. I plan to try the limited slip setup if arrma ever sends me the replacement under warranty. Not sure if there are many people having luck with a "properly" shimmed exb rear diff, so I just thought I would have more luck with a v4 diff.

I’ve bashed my 12x18 shimmed EXB diff pretty hard a few times and no problems yet. When I had issues with EXB diffs in the past, it happened quickly.

Yep sure enough front diff ring gear has 3 chewed teeth. Wondering if it only chewed the 3 this time cause I filled diff with thicker fluid? Or after rebuild I seated everything little tighter? Just odd I was bashing harder this time and less damage to ring gear? Anyways new diff from horizon should be here tomorrow, ordered Kyosho shims for diff and input gear so maybe this time with added shims diff will hold up..... Odd thing to me also is everyone has rear diff issues it seems and mine besides fluid change have no extra shims and is holding up fine just the front has blown twice now?

I put a 19x13x.2mm shim behind the inner big bearing for the pinion and an extra shim on the gear side bearing on the v4 diff and it's holding up to 8s power.
