  1. Kraton 6s
  2. Talion
One of the big differences in my kraton and talion is the weight. I am attracted to putting in the same m2c and HR upgrades but worry I will compromise on what makes a talion a talion.

Currently I have the m2c chassis braces and have hr hubs en route.

That said - I guess I have to decide if I want to drive the Talion like a basher or a racer. I drive the kraton like a basher so the heavy parts are wonderful.

Exactly! i like my Talion light and nimble. even moving to just heavier tires is ruining the Talion-ness.

I say, assuming that the EXB chassis is the same weight as the stock, maybe consider using it instead of the 4mm m2c?

exactly what I was thinking. To keep weight down I’ll probably end up getting the 3mm exb chassis for the talion. Keeping weight down has been a huge concern of mine so I’m probably only gonna upgrade what’s necessary. Ordered some backflip lp’s the other day so I’ll test those on the talion .

I am in the same spot as you guys. I tried the HS 1730 but it totally changed the handling and slowed it down ,even gearing up. I’m thinking about a hobbywing 4274 2200kv what do y’all think ?

If your talion is gonna get aluminum upgrades down the road, don’t get the 2200kv. In my opinion that motor is more for buggy’s. It heats up real quick.

I have the Castle 2200 KV in my Talion and BigTim is right. I overheat the motor in probably about 6-7 minutes, maybe less. I wanted to gear up to the 20 tooth, so I had to turn the EXP down to 75% on my remote. Running on 6s, the 2200 KV motors over rev at max power. To keep temps down to safe without a fan ( I hate extra wires for the fans), I had to keep RPM's peaking at 40K. So 75% of my power output. As the voltage drops you can probably turn the ESP back up, but it's truly a waste of time. I love my HobbyStar 1730 KV geared up to 22 tooth. I still get to around 70, no GPS. And it is no where close to overheating, torque is off the charts as always. I run the stock Katars most of the time. When I need more grip, I have Backflips, which offer sick performance in grass and loose dirt.

I built my Talion at first to be light weight and nimble. Then I added M2C chassis, braces and a max6 4985 combo and noticed the weight getting up there and it’s nimbleness declining.
Long story short, I ended up pulling the max6 combo out of it and putting the stock electronics back in it along with the original katars to get it back where I thought the handling should be.
20t pinion /46t spur along with 30/500k/60k and it’s perfection IMO.
Besides my 120mph Typhon nothing in the fleet can touch it in the corner carving department

I’m running same setup as @Mr.Duke. And imo too it’s perfect

How’d you get no overheating issues with that gearing?. My talion got hot with stock katars and stock diff fluid and 13/50 gearing.

I run (2) 30mm fans on the motor and temps are usually 150-155 with 85f temps outside after a full 6s pack

I just took one of those out of my talion cause it was having issues with its stock weight. I would nail the trigger and it would hesitate (no it was not the radio, I have a futaba) i just feel like it needed longer to wind up. I put a 1600kv 4082 in there with a max8 and a 20T pinion... it rips... and the shorter 4082 isn’t too heavy so it (in my opinion) didn’t throw it off too bad. I also run backflip LP’s on my talion.. ??‍♂️ I dig the setup tho.

Sure does, mine got to 180 just after a few minutes.. and it works phenomenal in my typhon tho.. ??

Right now I’m back to stock motor and Max6 with all aluminum upgrades. I guess that’s about as good as it gets. I was looking for 70 and bashing with same pinion AND no weight gain. If someone figures it out let me know ??‍♂️
