Do all Kraton Tyres fit on the Talion ? Say these :

https://www.amazon.com/ARRMA-AR5100...n&qid=1571333219&sr=8-1-fkmr0#customerReviews

I see there are more than one 3PV version. I also see the 3PR as way more and better reviews - will it work ? https://www.amazon.com/Futaba-3PRKA...1_3?keywords=Futaba+3PV&qid=1571340261&sr=8-3

Do you need to buy a separate receiver & if so which one ? Link ? ;)

Sorry for all the questions but I'm keen to order it all tonight :p
I don’t know much about the 3PRKA radio, but it uses the same receivers. I assume it’s a single model version of the 3PV, but I would have to read up on it to tell you definitively.

I bought the one with the telemetry receiver R304SB. I bought the R304SB-E extra receivers for my other rigs. It has the internal receiver antenna. If ultimate range is necessary then get the one with the external antenna R304SB.

Thanks guys ,

Shipping is getting more & more ridiculous ! Between $200 and $300 ( I mean the car is $550) !
Does dealing with AUS distributors/shops work better given your location? We have a few Aussie and NZ members here.

Can you send me their details please ?

Arrma part number ARA106048 is the latest version. ??
Okay so found one at a local dealer but that part number is 106030. Is this the version 3 ? If so, in what way is the version 4 better ?
I see it comes with a tactic radio at least...

Regards
Braam

V4 has a better motor mount, T2T brace maybe? Most of the upgrades came in V3. The motor mount is a cheap upgrade from a kit breaker anyways. I would say go for it.

Thanks @jondilly1974 (y)

But are we sure the 106030 = the Version 3 ?
Yep ??

The Backflip LP tires are excellent on the Talion

So I went down to the local hobby shop today...sigh.
When I mentioned Arrma the owner started to try to talk me out of it ( even though he could get a talion) and tried to nudge me towards an all plastic 3s car at half the price. He said Arrma is a top-end car and most people simply don't have the money to spend on it so he doesn't stock it or parts for it.
All this makes sense but the stuff he does offer is well.....meh.
He did demo a car for me that went 70km/h on 3s...but coming from the Nitro world an all plastic car just doesn't doe it for me.

After a lengthy discussion it became apparent that if I was to buy any Arrma car I'm going to be ordering any parts from abroad. Thus I need to make sure that I can get parts that ship to RSA. This brings me to the next predicament: After spending about 20 hours of research and finally reaching a decision on Talion ( over the Karton and Typhon), I now see that since the Kraton is more popular, there are more places where you can get parts from for it online. This brings me to my question:

What Parts are not interchangeable between the Talion and the Kraton ? At the very least, will all the stuff you normally go through be interchangeable ?
Will all tyres that go on a Kraton go on a Talion ?

If not, I might have to start considering the Kraton:confused:
Thanks @jondilly1974 !

Id definitely get the V3.
I believe those might have xt90 battery connectors instead of ic5?

Almost every part is interchangeable between the Kraton and the Talion. Any of the things you would break potentially you can install Kraton upgrade parts on the Talion.

They key differences are:
shocks (I believe the front only?)
body
shock tower (front only I believe?)
wheels/tires (no issues swapping to Kraton / notorious/outcase/ typhon)

Id definitely get the V3.

So in a scenario where Arrma decides to bin the Talion and only keep the Kraton due to popularity, the only issue you'll have for parts are the shocks, towers and body ?

Just picked her up !!!!!!

Boy oh boy oh boy oh boy ? ??

Counting the seconds till 5pm !

Looks like the hobby shop set you up with an IC5 to xt-90 adapter?
Let us know how you like driving it. Should be a blast!
Yikes! That adapter plug has some thin wires! ?

...it has been 3 hours since I stopped (had to stop due to daylight) and still haven't been able to wipe the smile from my face ?

Worth EVERY cent !
First time picking a transmitter up in 12 years (well RC-car transmitter that it) ! I've also never done jumps with an RC car before - boy do I have a lot to learn ! Leave that darn brake alone in the air you idiot !?

I didn't dare put any of the 6s batteries in this beast as it already clears the jumps on 60% throttle on 6s !

I was so excited to get going I forgot to put on shoes ! Regretted that for sure !

Played for about 90 minutes and nothing broke...score !(y) I put some tape on the belly of the beast but after the session realised I need thicker or more tape for sure !

Oh and cleaning this thing is SOOO much easier than it used to be 12 years ago before I had a compressor !!!

Some footage attached ...again ...don't think I'm sleeping much tonight

Couldn't resist another session before work ?

And I tried 6s for the first time...

Well it seems (at least for my skill level) 6s isn't suited for jumping. For me 3s vs 6s is like the difference between shooting your bow at 10m vs 40m. At 10m distance you'll be forgiven plenty of errors and still at least not miss the arrow butt. AT 40m if you breathe wrong you miss the whole thing.
Same with 6s. You have to be so much more careful with the throttle in the air. Punch it too hard and the car totally flips and you land on your roof. Touch the brakes too much and you are nosediving .

I like the fact that the car can give more than I can handle ...gives me a reason to keep practising on 3s which is way more forgiving but still too much power if you give if full throttle.

Anyway - hope I'm not boring everyone - just like a new world to me :?

Dangerously thin? Will have to talk to them about this...

No actually used when driving the car...plus makes for longer wires to manage inside
You need to just watch the temps on that smaller gauge wire. It will effectively be a fuse at a given amperage. You may or may not get enough draw across it to heat it up far enough to start a fire. But it’s possible.
