I had another thread about this rig but thought I would put this in the build section.

Building a rig from scratch is no easy feat. So many bits and bobs to buy that you take for granted when you buy an RTR and upgrade it………it’s easier than amassing all the parts like I had to do with this rig. Phew…..!
Heres a few pics of what’s done so far….

These things are really nice with the fireteam tires and some hex extenders.

I’m using Kraton steering knuckles and rear hubs to widen it out. Should I still go with some +5mm extenders? I have some JBI +17mm kicking around but they may be too much…..
ps
thanks for the tip on the body standoffs……I’m still waiting for those the show up.

cheers,
kev

@Moirae
Lo and Behold…

I’ll give them a shot, ‘cause they look cool. I had a fair bit of traction roll with them on the fireteam. Perhaps they will be better with the lower C of G the Talion profile provides.

haha I actually have kraton blocks/hexes + 20mm justbashit extensions on mine and it's been great so far. I still haven't been able to catch any air with it yet but its good. Personally I like it a lot more with the wider stance. When I was looking around at other people builds I thought they all looked funny without being any wider.

Well, it’s pretty much done……very cool. At @Moirae suggestion, I did put on the JBI 20mm extenders, very boss. The M2C shafts are quite beefy. The front center shaft is a bit short for my liking. I know they made it smaller due to the fact that guys were bending the stock shaft so I had to put some fuel line in the outdrives to take up some slack.
I’m going to run it on one 6S lipo so I will remove the series connector.
15.5 lbs with a 6800mah lipo.

That thing looks sexy!! the extensions really complete the look. You're going to love how easy it is to get all the power down.

Just did a quick cul de sac shakedown with this thing……monster! Tried the fireteam wheels, now going to try the backflips.
Here’s a bit more porn…….Check out the beef in these M2C shafts…

I did manage to use the thick 5mm rear turnbuckles up front for my steering, just because…🤣

Here’s the finished product, although I’m still waiting for the aluminum standoffs to connect the rear of the body. (They’re coming from Russia……I can’t figure out what the problem is…🤷🏻‍♂️🤓……is there a Putin emoji?,…..one that looks like a sphincter?)

I made some home brew standoffs out of existing body posts.
I won’t win any painting contests….simple black and gray camo to match the fleet livery.

looks awesome to me!

Looks Awesome!
is that a temp sensor/readout zip tied in the back? (Looks like it's wired up to the front so probably not now that i zoom in to investigate).

Super clean work on everything, great job congrats on the killer rig!

It’s a lipo alarm (with the alarm turned off because it’s annoying)
I use it so I can quickly look at cell voltage. Once I’m around 3.6/cell I start making my way back to my truck. I don’t like carrying rigs once they hit LVC.

The last little bling showed up today…..very sexy. The rig is complete now.
I would suggest if anyone else is building the Talion XL, use the 45mm standoffs. These ones are 50mm so they were a bit long and I had to ream out the body holes to fit the length.
