Well, "the eye-talian way" was more just for dramatics…. You have all seen it before, same combo and mostly the same everything as most…. But I wanted to do the thread at least for me I guess. Hope you all at lest enjoy and maybe have a laugh along the way…. Forewarning… I suck at this stuff… so I might be picture heavy and word shy. Capeeeeeeesh?
So I got the Mojave EXB to fill a void…. I have the Kraton all done up, and the rusty infraction, done enough for my liking…. But have always eyed the Mojave up…. I had the HW 1650 motor from the combo I bought for the infraction…. But I am using the stock motor with the max6 esc…. Really like that combo for my bashing style…. Plus I have a spare brand new BLX 6s motor in the parts cabinet in case the spektrum motor burns up…
Anyway, from the moment I pulled the Mojave out the box, I was in love…. The suspension, the size, the exb color
scheme…. I was smitten….
So I started buying parts! Of course the scorched Rc wheel wells were a must…. Picked up the rear a-arm mounted shock and axle protectors, along with the front lower titanium bumper mount… figured why not!
From what I have read on the forum, I seen that the front and rear bumper mounts would break…. So you all know what I did…. That’s right! I headed right over to @3d-rc.myshopify.com and got me some bumper mounts…. I also got me a sweet battery tray so I can run a 800mah 3s tower hobby lipo ($8 on sale) for my 3 game changer fans….
Battery wise I like SMC… so I added (2) 5200mah 6s graphene lipos to the mix…. Can’t forget the SMC lipo alarm…. Set to 3.6 per their recommendation….
Seen more then a few body mounts broken…. Sooooooo bought an extra set of stock mounts from JENNY’S RC…. Thank you Jenny Rc for all that you do! Grabbed a set of the stock Kraton front mud guards to help with the debri entering the cockpit….
I like to use screw on body mounts…. Hate them body clips! I usually bend my clips up so they are easier to grab and add a zip tie of if the tap breaks off… but screw them all together! Hahaha I like to screw! And now you can get them in any color…. Buy some 4mm x 20mm grub screw and the screw caps from eBay… easy..
The other necessary upgrade I read about on the forum are the wheel hex’s…. So of course I went the M2C route…. Bought the 2mm extended with the double wheel nuts…. Also grabbed the esc mount…. I have it in the kraton and love it…. I feel more secure mounting the esc to it… I am sure it’s not needed but it does move the esc closer to the motor…. So be aware of that…
another part I got from M2C is the rear shock tower brace… between that and adding nuts on the other side of any screw you can (through the shock tower and bulkhead), I have not blown a single diff…..
Fan wise, I went with @gamechangerfans route…. I have (2) 40x20mm fans on the motor… bought a cheap Chinese mount because the powerhobby one was out of stock for awhile… it did come back in stock after I bought this mount, so I bought it and mounted that in the Kraton now…
Servo, I went with the Powerhobby 633mcw servo…. 360 oz-in @ 6v, 400 oz-in @ 7.4v, 445 oz-in @8.4v…. Waterproof also…. My first time using their servos…. Seems legit so far…. Only one good bash under its belt thought…. But hey, it’s 25 tooth and $60….
Radio I went with the Flysky gt-5…. So far, it was binded out the box, and it’s super easy to use…. Kind of like it already… has some weight to it also… doesn’t feel cheap except for the steering wheel…. But I like it…. Also like that it handles 8.4v from the receiver…. That was a concern when I was gonna run 2 plastic powerhobby fans, but I went the other route and now running the fans off an aux. Lipo….
Power plant you ask? Well, I have the answer for you! I of course bought the max 6 for it. Having the motor already made it a simple choice…. Plus running it in my other rigs and soon to be running a max5 in my Xmaxx…. I’d say I’m a fan…. I’m a bashed, not a speed racer…. Hence HW for me….
Picked up a red and black body from Jenny’s RC… $68 plus shipping. Best price around…. Marry me Jenny’s RC! Hahaha I’ve spent so much with you guys it’s just ridiculous! But in the immortal words of Biz Markie…. ‘Babe, you got what I neeeeeeeeeeeeeed! I trimmed the body to not rub 2.8 wheels….
I do the gorilla tape…. I never did the shoe goo body mod…. Gorilla tape is amazing and between that and a hammer, I could fix anything…. And I mean anything……… but I am not sure what is heavier, the tape or the goo and tape…. But that’s what I did….
Wanted to try the bandito wheels… figured I can run them on the Traxxas maxx also. So grabbed them for free with tower hobby points. Fan them the other day…. They were a blast off road! Hahaha not what they are made for but man was I grinning like a mad man!
Now, on to some pictures! Who doesn’t like pictures…. Well, blind people I guess…. Sorry…..
And yes, you have seen some of these pics already because I am like a school kid… I get excited, and show my hand before I should show my hand. Lol
ENJOY!
I added a windshield and windows…. But I removed the side windows… too much weight and not needed I believe…
I cut out the rear deck holes… I am going to wire up some 50
mm fans if I need more air flow…
And look at these beauties! I am in love with these gems…. Thank you again @3d-rc.myshopify.com for all that you do for us with your amazing noodly parts!
Here you can see how close the esc is to the motor…. I should make a little "esc guard" out of some thin sheet metal….. hmmm
Forgot, grabbed a 40mm esc fan mount from @Camaroboy383 thank you sir! Top quality stuff right there!
